Pukalani Country Club
About
Pukalani Country Club has a unique location at the 1,100-foot elevation of the famous Mount Haleakala, an extinct volcano whose name means “House of the Rising Sun.” The dramatic elevation offers breathtaking views that span the West Maui Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. The golf course features wide, undulating fairways and fast, sloped greens. The gently rolling terrain can cause some tricky uneven lies. There are trees and well placed bunkers scattered throughout to provide further challenge. Pukalani Country Club has a unique feature on the par-3 third hole. The hole gives golfers the options of hitting to one of two very different greens, one which requires a tee shot over a tree-filled gully and another that requires a shot beyond a cliff to a pal tree-lined green.

Public course experience in the resort island
This course is great for saving $$$ on vacation. 3 of us played for the price of one at any other course on Maui.
Great service at the food service trailer, but still no attempt to rebuild the clubhouse after many years post-fire.
On course amenities such as ball washers in disrepair.
All in all a public course experience at a public course fee.
With great views!
Fun round at local course
Very cordial staff. Greens in excellent shape and we played early morning in under four hours. Good value with Thursday price deal.
Awesome Experience
The golf course was in impeccable condition so as the weather. The staff from the cart guy, shop and starter box, course staff and not to mention the Golf course manager Mr. Ron Huffman were all accommodating, friendly and professionals. You have to play here to believe it. Can't wait to coming back.
Great course and value
Course was in great condition. Staff was excellent and service was great. One recommendation is to bring your own clubs.
Great upcountry area
We typically play the municipal course when visiting Maui for the value & views, but thought we'd give this a try for something different. We were not disappointed. We had a foursome of beginners & experienced mixed, so it was a great course for all levels. Greens were a bit rough on many holes, but there really isn't much they can due given the area & the difficulty growing grass. Staff was great & offered great info at check in. Course is set in a beautiful upcountry neighborhood with some great views.
Very interesting course
The course had many interesting holes and great fairways and greens. I enjoyed it very much.
Great Hawaiian Hospitality
This was our first time playing at Pukalani Country Club. Unfortunately, the street signage for Pukalani Street was not very clear and there was no golf course signage to follow coming off of Highway 37.
As you can expect, we were lost and late for our tee time. However, upon arriving at the golf course, Tessa and her team were very accommodating. They told us that we were not the first people to get lost and not to worry by rushing. They even gave us time to warm up on the driving range. When we were ready, they would fit us in. This is great service. They put my mind at ease and as a result, I had a great round.
As for the course conditions itself, it has wide fairways and is very forgiving. In terms of the all of the golf courses in Maui, this is the best value if you are looking for affordable green fees, exceptional service, and good playing conditions for the regular weekend golfer.
I would definitely come back when I'm in Maui again.
Tip: When you see the Pukalani Terrace Center, that is Pukalani Street. Just drive down that street to the end of the road and you will reach the golf course.
Hidden Gem
Great staff, made me feel as if I was a regular instead of a first time golfer at the course. Course was in great shape and fairway markers right on in yardage. The views of the Island was great. Would play this course again.
Upcountry round on Maui
Break away from resort golf and play a course that's a good value. The course rewards staying in the fairway as getting into the true rough will annoy golfers who have not worked on short game skills. And don't top the ball on any of the par threes, this is a rainy side of theValley Isle so there's ball eating jungle.
Pukalani... A good old friend
We play here whenever we come to Maui- usually every 1-2 years. GolfNow had a great deal - 2some with cart for $100. Any golf for 2 under 150 on Maui is great! Lol we played early as the winds really hit hard up on the hill later. Pace of play was the lone downer and we did still finish in just under 4 hours...but it should have been 3.5. The people in fron of us were never ready golf.. Walk out, look at shot, walk back, grab a club, walk out, decide club not right, walk back....you get the idea. The Marshall knew it and did say something to them once ..it got better on the back, but not a lot. Oh well...take in the views and enjoy. We did. Pro shop is always friendly... We had a hot dog at the turn and that took over 12-15 minutes...but since we were backed up anyways, it was another oh well.
Best and most beautiful in Maui!
You can't do better for golf in Maui. And don't miss the Pukalani Superette for groceries on the way home...
excellent value
interesting course to play and great value for the $$
Great value in Maui upcountry
Great views...local feel---local prices. Course in good condition--not pristine but very playable---keep the ball in play--a good number of holes with OB to both sides. Greens are on the slower side but roll very well. Interesting elevation changes and some challenging dog legs. Overall great experience!!! Would highly recommend and can't wait to play again.
A 10 year gap
The lat time I played this course was 10 years ago and my previous experience was very good. However, this go around was very average. The greens were slow and spotty and the general condition of the course was rough. Thankfully the views were still how I remembered- top notch!
Would come here every visit to Maui!
I loved Pukalani. We played there mid-late morning and then drove up to Haleakala after. It was a great day. The course is an amazing value (and I am a picky golfer). It was in good shape with interesting holes. The greens were in good shape. No- it's not like Kapalua, but then again, Kapalua wasn't in the pristine shape I expected. Pukalani has spectacular views, and it was fun to play. The staff was very friendly and lunch after our round was good.
Great views
Cooler climate than other courses on the island but greens were bare in too many areas.
Pukalani experience
This course was challenging for us as fairly new golfers and I'm sure it would be excellent if they hadn't just plugged the greens. We knew this when we signed up but hey, we're here, we want to play as many as we can. Beautiful views and very friendly staff.
Really nice views
A really nice layout and friendly staff but no amenities. The pro shop was a trailer and the cart barn was a metal carport. The course was not in good shape, the greens were sandy and unpredictable, the traps were terrible and the fairways were course. This is a beautiful tract with great possibilities but it needs much work. However, even so the layout was great and the course was fun to play and I would recommend it for the money and would play it again.
interesting!
Pukalani is an interesting change up to a mountain side course. You will find yourself either going straight downhill or straight back up. So get ready to unleash the Cracker on the uphill par 5s and make sure to practice a heavy draw to fight the Trade winds or just keep it low below the tree tops. Very friendly and helpful staff. Tassie is a great host. Great and quickly prepared food in the club house and some spectacular views of the central valley below and the North and South shores. Well worth the money with your Golf Now Hot Deal or without. Hang loose Bro!
