Hawaii Country Club

About
Hawaii Country Club was one of the first golf courses in West Oahu. Unlike many of the island's courses that are relatively flat, this course is defined by its landscape of rolling hills and valleys. The dramatic elevations provide scenic views that stretch to Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor. Another defining characteristic of the golf course is the hundreds of natural Monkey Pod trees that are scattered throughout. The layout is not particularly long, placing an emphasis on accuracy and good course management over long distance driving. Be careful on the greens, they may not be fast but they are very undulating. If you misjudge the slopes, you could easily end up putting three or four times. Hawaii Country Club finishes with an uphill blind approach on a par 4 that is short but tough.

There is no love for Joe Biden at this course
I've read the reviews and they did not disappoint, The driving was rough potholes everywhere. most ratings were 2 out of 5 but I couldn't pass on low price and availability. With that said, we had a great time and practically had the course to ourselves.
One thing has to be said, whether your politics are left or right leaning a healthy dose of support is always welcome, but his place lets you know in no uncertain terms where they stand. While pulling into the entrance banners with Let's Go Brandon were on either side. It didn't stop there once inside Trump and Reagan photos on the wall with any and all postings front and center. Like I said a healthy dose of support is ok but this place was definitely making a statement.
Would I play there again, "NO", did I enjoy myself "Absolutely."
Enjoyable Day
A historical course with great views. Not perfect but good enough for challenging play on seversl of the holes. Would come back in a heartbeat.
Perfect for new golfers!
I'm pretty new to golf and have played a few different courses, but this course is my favorite to play so far the views are great and the course is a good challenge!
Great value, friendly staff
Played here with a friend who purchased a punch card - 10 rounds for $260 and you get the 11th round free! Staff is super friendly and the lady running the place is awesome. We had gotten a fair amount of rain before I played so it was fairly soft and lush. But the course is a bit rough no doubt. Cart paths aren't in the best shape in the world but it's the first public course established on Hawaii and you can play for dirt cheap. If you're looking for a country club, this ain't it. If you're looking to play a quick round with some good company and enjoy yourself with some great views of the island you'll be in for a good day.
How bad could it be?
That’s what I thought to myself when I booked the tee time. The answer… might be one of the worst courses I’ve ever played. Very dry and the cart paths had more potholes and bumps then a country road. I couldn’t tell how far to hit because the ball would just roll forever because of how dry it was. With that being said, it’s cheap, and I got 18 holes done in about 2 hours 15 mins. If you need to squeeze a quick round in, and you don’t care about course quality, this is the place. I wasn’t disappointed, cause I got what I paid for. But I don’t anticipate coming back to this course again. So many other courses that are slightly more expensive and much better.
Don’t waste your time
The carts were loud and smelly, the cart paths were almost non existent and scary to drive on, all of the grass was dead, and the tee boxes were harder than a rock. I couldn’t even put a plastic tee in the ground, and when I could finally get it to go into the ground after hammering it in, they would snap in half. Definitely do not waste your money coming here!
Great course
Great course for those looking to play in the sun! Well kept and conditions couldnt be better. Definately a regular here
Challenging fun, but not well maintained
We had fun playing this course but you couldn’t read the greens. There were bumps you couldn’t see so as you pitted the ball went different directions.
The traps were grassy for most of them. The fairways were very brown and a lot of dirt areas. We did have a lot of fun though. To me that is what golf is all about.
Get What You Pay For
Perfectly imperfect. Yes, there's no sand in the bunkers or grass in the fairways. No, you can't drink alcohol on the course. But you can't ever complain about any course you can finish 18 in under 2:30. If I lived in Oahu, it would probably be my home course.
Not worth it
Don’t waste you time or money on this terrible condition golf course. Fairway s are dirt and the green are horrible and slow. Only redeeming item is the Diamond Head view on 18 and the pace of play due to lack of golfers.
A welcomed surprise
Though the course was a little worn, the atmosphere and surroundings were just what we had hoped to see. The hills made it interesting and fun to play as well!
