Hawaii Country Club

About
Hawaii Country Club was one of the first golf courses in West Oahu. Unlike many of the island's courses that are relatively flat, this course is defined by its landscape of rolling hills and valleys. The dramatic elevations provide scenic views that stretch to Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor. Another defining characteristic of the golf course is the hundreds of natural Monkey Pod trees that are scattered throughout. The layout is not particularly long, placing an emphasis on accuracy and good course management over long distance driving. Be careful on the greens, they may not be fast but they are very undulating. If you misjudge the slopes, you could easily end up putting three or four times. Hawaii Country Club finishes with an uphill blind approach on a par 4 that is short but tough.

Rough shape
The course is in very rough shape as they don't water the fairways only the greens. So it's pretty much dirt, which sometimes made it difficult to figure out where to hit. Greens were a different type of grass, kind of long so difficult to see breaks.
It is one of the oldest courses on Oahu. Staff was very friendly, nice thai food snack shack. I should've figured the price was too good to be true. We had fun though, probably a great and challenging course when its green.
Excellent value for money
I booked on GolfNow and got a ‘hot deal’ for $28. I wouldn’t say the course is Augusta but for that price it is excellent value. There were few players on the course and I completed 18 holes in about two hours. The fairways are bare and the greens were ‘so so’ but to have a hit on a par 72 course for under 30 bucks is excellent.
I am from Australia and had to wait about an hour for my wife to pick me up as I played so quick. I sat in the pro shop with a couple of beers talking to the pro about life in general and he was super friendly. Had a fantastic day and I really can’t recommend the course more favourably for international visitors wanting to have a hit.
Nice course...but very dry
I love Hawaii Country Club because the price is reasonable, its a relaxing place to play, and this is where I first learn the game.
However this week the course was very dry probably due to the summer weather. A majority of the fairways were solid dirt. The greens were okay and had grass but was still on the dry side.
Overall I still had a fun practice round and shot a decent score of 83.
Golf classic
For the seasoned golfer. Very dry fairways & greens ok. For the price an opportunity to play a quick 18 holes. The restaurant serves wonderful local food to go.
This course is a value course
This course has a cool setup. The fairways are about 70/30 dirt…. The greens are pretty poor as far as weeds and long grass goes….. don’t expect to make many putts…. The facility is pretty basic, the staff out on the course we’re friendly, the man in the pro shop had a less than desirable attitude as if he were being bothered. You are getting what you pay for on this course
A great place to learn.
I am not good enough to pay $100 a round. If I did, I could not enjoy it. Hawaii Country Club offers a good value for me to learn and get better. Several of the holes are guarded by trees, or steep approaches, this challenges me with club selection and approach options, that allows me to grow and adapt. I always have a great time. Thanks for the opportunity to enjoy learning the game.
pour maintained , cheap .
course lay-out good, poor views , poor maintenance, greens acceptable closed clubhouse , cheap. we got a deal for $58.00 for 2 persons all inlcuded.
Good clean fun, easy on the wallet
Good clean fun, easy on the wallet. Great pace of play. Laid back, down to earth course. Great value with some unique hole designs. Will probably be back.
Great practice a real challenge
The course was not in the greatest condition but that is what made it challenging and a real test of my game.
Excellent value
For an average golfer, tourist , this course represents exceptional value. Great vista's of the local landscape, panoramic views, interesting variety of holes., relaxed atmosphere. At the price point online it can't be beat. If you're looking for the more luxurious country club experience however, then this course is not for you. Personally, I'll play here every time.
Great value and great views
This course is the best value on Oahu. The course is mature, offers beautiful views of Waikiki and mountains. The greens are a bit unpredictable but overall value is 5 stars in my book.
