Hawaii Country Club

About
Hawaii Country Club was one of the first golf courses in West Oahu. Unlike many of the island's courses that are relatively flat, this course is defined by its landscape of rolling hills and valleys. The dramatic elevations provide scenic views that stretch to Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor. Another defining characteristic of the golf course is the hundreds of natural Monkey Pod trees that are scattered throughout. The layout is not particularly long, placing an emphasis on accuracy and good course management over long distance driving. Be careful on the greens, they may not be fast but they are very undulating. If you misjudge the slopes, you could easily end up putting three or four times. Hawaii Country Club finishes with an uphill blind approach on a par 4 that is short but tough.

Good value in Oahu
The staff is super friendly. Tee box and fairways in good shape. Greens are kind of rough. Many scenic drivable holes. Lots of fun to play for casual players. I’d play it again
Do not play here
This course is miserable, there are sinkholes where you can fall into, there are no fairways, greens are just as bad as the fairways, course is alittle short, save your money and play somewhere else.
Historic but ends there
The may be the worse conditioned course I’ve ever played. The traps have been let grow over, many of the greens are like a washboard, and the cart paths were bad enough that a number of times we had to go back to pick things up that were thrown out of the cart by bumps.
Sure it’s not a lot of money and the people are friendly but wouldn’t play this course again.
Memories were made, just not good ones.
Probably wouldn’t come back
Course is overgrown and rough. Losing balls in fairways that looked like the rough made it nearly unplayable and greens hardly have grass on them.
Other review is too bad.
I saw some reviews.
But many review is too bad.
So I don't expect the course.
But it is not so bad.
The price is cheap, I think reasonable.
Sad
Not sure why the conditions are so poor on this course, could be Covid , but if we could have gotten a refund we would have stopped playing after the first hole. No distinction between tee box, fairways and greens. These are pics of the greens and fairways. Course may be good for beginners.
Oh Man!
First I never write reviews, but I have to warn other people! Let me first say that the staff was excellent! That’s where the good ends!
I come to Hawaii every year to play golf. I’m always looking for new less know course, but this was the WORST course conditions I’ve ever seen!! Waste of $30!! Wouldn’t play again if it was free!!
Goid value for the price.
Interesting layout and fun..
It was dry day and my ball runs good.
I prepaid but front desk asked me to pay at first. They said they do not get money from golfnow account. They let me play anyway.
I would like to go again but not sure if I get same problems again.
This course is great for starters.
Had lots of fun. Course layout is good, We were able to find the next hole. I would definitely rate this course as a beginner course. Not much bushes where it’s easy to lose your ball. Fairways were a bit dry and a little tough to make a divot. Greens were somewhat to well maintained. Overall it was a fun course for my first time.
Poor managed course
View is good.
Course is short and layout is moderate.
The problem is management.
Very poor fairway and green.
Hoping for something had changed
Nothing has changed. Course maintenance is poor. One of our golf carts stopped working. Grass cuttings left in the fairway making locating your ball a chore. Layout is fine. Just need some work. Pace was great. Maybe because nobody wants to play there.
Golf res only
Today i thought iwas going to play but the course was still closed and was not going to open til saturday
I reached an employee there and called my saturday
Tee time with her unfortunately the service
They used was not updated or informed of may 1st not available given the circumstances i cannot find
Fault with anyone . But thank you
Did not golf, coarse called and said they were closed
Did not golf, coarse called and said they were closed
Conditions
The course is only watered by mother nature
The greens surfaces were a combination of weed dirt and a little bit of grass
Virtually unputtable
The fairways are patchy grass and sparse
Would have been nice to make a more informed decision based upon true conditions
The staff was friendly though
Affordable local style golf in Hawaii
I’ve played the course many times while visiting family here. It’s a quirky course that has it’s own charm.
It’s not a resort course and has it’s rough edges ( No pun intended.). It still has some challenging holes and the fairways are not always in pristine condition. Just a fun course to play with some shot making decisions. Placement and local knowledge are key in scoring well. Aloha !
