Best Public Course So Far
This is one of the best public courses that give you the country club vibe for a great value. Everyone is happy who works there and I will keep coming back for the great golf, great facilites and great staff.
Played here 5/31 and had the worst experience with the ranger that day. I am a woman who is a scratch player so I have no problem keeping pace of play. While waiting on the 7th tee box for the group in front of us to clear the fairway the ranger came up to our group and told me to keep pace of play…. Mind you we finished the front 9 at 1:50 well below pace of play. Where the heck was I supposed to go? Did they expect me to hit into the group in front of us? Long story short I watched this same ranger and he never talked to any other groups. The group directly in front of us was at least one hole behind at all times and he never spoke to them. I simply feel that because I am a woman I got singled out. He then proceeded to get loud with me when I called him out on it and drove away because he knew he was wrong but never apologized. If you are a woman don’t play here unless you want to get belittled
MDW impressive pace
I was expecting a slow pace for MDW but it wasn’t until the back 9 that we had to wait at all. Finished 18 in 4:20. The course was in excellent condition, the pace of play was smooth even though it was a holiday weekend. The hot dogs on the course might be the best in the Chicago area. Friendly staff. I’ve never used their driving range or practice facility but it looks really nice.
GREAT COURSE
I would highly recommend playing a round here! Great course conditions and overall facilities! I’ll be back again this summer!
Straight forward muni course
Heritage Oaks is a straight forward course, i mean that figuratively and literally. No curve balls during the round. Almost every hole plays dead straight (slight bends here or there). Typical back and forth muni course. Slice or hook it off the tee? Go to the next or previous fairway and play your shot. I say all this not as a bad thing however. Heritage Oaks offers a unique set of circumstances to golfers. Due to the lack of OB and simple hole layout, golfers off all levels can play this course without losing more than 1 or 2 balls (if you lose any). And unlike other courses that have this kind of layout, Heritage is actually manicured and clearly loved by the owners. This is the first course that I have played at that was so simple, but didn’t feel like I was playing an unloved muni course. Some fairways and tee boxes were slightly beat up. And the greens did run on the slower side. But this was the first time playing it, and it’s still early in the season. Highly recommend this course to high and mid handicap golfers. Great course to bring someone new to golf if they are itching to play a “real course”. Low handicap players might get bored, but if you are just looking to try to shoot low, you’ll have a good time. Will for sure come back.
Greens were in incredible shape for early April - running slick and true
A Gem
Heritage Oaks is one of my favorite spots to play. The staff is always super friendly and welcoming. For how early in the season it is, the course is in great shape — really well maintained.
This is a great track for the value, and the pace of play is consistently outstanding. Never feel rushed, never stuck behind slow groups. Just a smooth, fun round every time.
If you’re looking for a solid layout, good conditions, and a laid-back vibe — this place checks all the boxes.
What happened to this place?!
Used to be my favorite course. Charging $87 for the conditions the course is in is crazy. Dead grass everywhere, tee boxes are just completely destroyed and some fairways are non-existent. Really disappointing to pay that much when the course is no where near that level. Won’t be coming back.
