Heritage Oaks Golf Club - Classic 18

I have played his course a lot. Over the last few years, the new club house and amenities are country club like and feel. The course is a lot of fun using most clubs in your bag. There is room for error on most holes without jeopardizing your round. Many different looks off the tee and a wonderful layout. The halfway house is in the right location to get water, food etc from many holes. Pace of play was perfect. Not being pushed and not waiting on a busy weekend is great. Go out there and enjoy this course!

Course was in very good condition. Pace was great on front 9. Less on back. Overall was ok. Range is nice. Never saw cart girl.

Green were a little slow, but for a muni course they were pretty good.

The 2 people at the deck when you check in where very rude

when asked a question about the situation of it being walking only

they kept saying

you are playing on a Hot Deal from golf now

any question you have to call them

No very friendly there are a lot of courses in area don't waste your time

This review is simple: I really liked the course and the facilities. The facilities are very new and organized, the staff is organized and has all the carts cleaned, and its easy to check in. The course itself was in good condition and was enjoyable to play.

The negative of my review comes from whatever golf cart policy the course has that caused me to have to move from my cart (I was riding solo) and into the cart with one of the random people I was paired up with, mid-round. Apparently the course was running out of carts, so I had to move all my stuff to another cart and sit/converse with a random individual. I was not offered a credit or any sort of refund for paying, in full, for a cart. In the end I was paired up with fine people and it worked out, but this course Policy (or whatever it was) stinks and the course needs to better account for their cart shortage.

Overall above average for a public course. Greens were slow but recovering from aeration.

Good layout and greens were rolling nicely. A good balance of challenges and opportunities. Course is kept very well.

Course is very playable to all levels. Was in fine condition. Bunkers very well maintained. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Will be back this season

Played Heritage Oaks on Monday. I’m very happy to report the course is in excellent shape. For whatever reason the course was not good after redo. Stayed away for a couple of years. Gave it another try on Monday. Everything was great. I’ll be back, many times. Highly recommend!

The course has yet to recover from the renovation done in 2020. Fairways are slightly above average but areas around greens are completely uneven and greens belong at a muni in the Sahara. When MANY other courses in the area are in significantly better condition and dont charge $62 to walk, take them up on it.

So much potential. I wish they had a sign that educated golfers on their yardages and where people should play. Too many people look at the scorecard, see 6,300 yards from the tips (6,000 yards from one up) and are playing from the wrong tees!! I think this would greatly help with pace of play here.

This is a par 70 course but one with 5 par 3s and 3 par 5s. If you converted this to a par 72, then you would need to make one of the par 3s into a par 5 meaning that this course plays equivalent to 300-400 yards longer. So understand the tips play about 6,600-6,700 yards, up tees, ~6,300 yards, etc. Many senior players and mid-high handicap players play here and they play from the wrong tees which creates longer rounds.

I like that they have varying length holes but many of the holes feel the same. the longer par 4s would be challenging for some players to reach in 2. The “par 4” 9th is probably a short par 5 for most players.

Otherwise, many reviews are accurate of the course. During the renovation, they unwisely didn’t put in cart paths and they’ve never been able to solve the tee boxes. Greens are nicely designed but so many ball marks. Bunkers are hit or miss everywhere you play in public Chicago courses so luck of the draw there.

Friendly staff and the amenities are updated. Trackman range is nice but wish they were able to put in a grass range. Again, so much potential but they just failed to go fully all in to be a top notch course in the area. But generally a good option to play.
