Don’t expect your hotdeal to be honored.
Show up for my 11 o clock tee time for two that was already paid for. 80 bucks after fees. The kid at the desk tells me we only paid the rate for 9, walking. I show him the receipt showing that I paid for two, 18 holes, cart included. End up getting scammed out of another 24 bucks. At that point I had no other choice other than try and get my money back from golfnow, or just pay and suck it up. Won’t ever be coming back. Definitely not worth the money or hassle to deal with, just go play the rail or one of the city courses.
Challenging course but always fun to play!
We try to play this course every year. It has some very challenging greens to pot. That makes for a fun day. It’s a good course to sharpen up your skills on.
The only hiccup we had was the computer system wasn’t working properly when we tried to pay with credit card. We ended up paying cash which we fortunately had. Other than that a great day.
Nice golf day
The course is in good shape abd a lot better than past coupke if years.
Lot of new landscape work and trap work.
Impossible greens
Overall, the course is in decent shape. The layout is great. The problem is the greens are almost unfair. It seems like one of those golf course revenge set ups every time I’m there and yet I keep coming back. Plan on the greens costing you 5-8 strokes. Literally takes the fun out of good shots. Not sure why they set up the greens this way, but I probably will be choosing another course when I’m in Springfield again.
Great Course
Probably the most difficult public course in Springfield but as a high handicapper I still enjoy it because it's always in perfect condition and managed very well.
Tee boxes need work
Beautiful day for golf. Definitely a fun course. Tee boxes need a lot of work…they were pretty chewed up. Great course layout even for a mid-to-high handicapper. I’ll definitely play here again soon!
Bring your A game
Imaginative course.. Often you must fly it onto the green - no roll up. Stay below the hole! Number 9 can be a card wrecker AFTER you're on the green.
Lazy golf day traveled to Chatham IL
This course has changed hands over the last few years. The atmosphere in the Pro Shop and Snack Bar seemed to be we don't know you so why talk.
I was looking for a new putter but neither of the pro shop workers seemed to want to talk. Now to be honest I could have spoke up but I am the customer, not going chase a sale. Went by Shields on way home found a putter so alls good
Snack bar we had to look for the staff and then the items were very ordinary, as in selections of beer. Last time we played they had a variety but this was limited today. Mostly domesticated beer without an alternative choice like Reds Apple (they advertise it) but non found. Menu had few items still listed the staff says they don't sell any longer. Might I suggest changing the list
And what course in this world does not accept Anerican Express, well I will tell you Piper Glenn does not This is a disappointment for it was accepted my last time I played. But hey there choice but my list is short for no AMX. Sad for used like coming over here to play.
For those who care I have played from Bali to The Middle East and all over the Carribeane, AMX was always accepted, as you can tell I am partial to my Points Card.
The greens, tee boxes, fair ways were in excellent shape, the sand traps were little water logged so you don't get true flight onto the green. This was my only complaint.
Hot dogs and burgers were also above average.
This is a challenging course with water and woods all over the place.. Narrow fairways in few spots, challenging pin locations contributed to my loss of many golf balls. Maybe I can learn to stay on the fairway but not likely.
Always a fun time
I’ve played this course a handful of times over the years and it never disappoints! Course conditions are the best of the best when it comes to a public course. Try and score early and often on the front 9 bc the back 9 humbles you right away! I will be back!
They don’t move tees or pins & allowed 5 some w very slow play
Underwater pin! Avoid this course until better managed.
Wait till better managed or play Panther Creek
Very slow pace, even though required cart path only due to rain. Did NOT move pins or tees. One pin under water. Tee boxes ripped up. Allowed 5-some and slow foursome play. Nearly five hour round. Save your money. Better spent at Panther Creek. No attention to course management and an ineffective ranger.
