Buffalo Grove Golf Course
About
Buffalo Grove Golf Club is an 18-hole municipal course that offers an enjoyable round for players of all skill levels. The gently rolling terrain is covered with mature trees and wetlands, all of which provide challenges on the course. In addition to the natural hazards, there are a few strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Accuracy will be helpful when maneuvering the tree-lined fairways but it's not a terribly punishing golf course. There are a few tricky spots, but overall it's a forgiving and player-friendly layout. It's ideal for beginners and also good for a quick and casual round for any skill level. The golf course's affordability is another appealing aspect of the course. Buffalo Grove G.C. also offers a practice facility with a 25-station driving range and pitching and chipping greens.

Solid muni
Always good fun at BG....course plays well for all ages/handicaps. We had a blast with a threesome of single digit, newer teenage player, and a senior citizen who can’t fly it like he used to. The nice sand puts some snazzy country clubs to shame. Greens aren’t the fastest, but roll nicely with minimal bumps and unfixed marks. Cold water plentiful on tees. Snack cart diligently racing between groups. Good overall value.
This is always one of my go to courses and is fun to play. The course is usually kept in good condition. I initially played by myself and the pace of play was fast on the front nine which was done in at a little under 2 hours. I was not so lucky on the back nine, as there seem to be several groups and somewhere it was getting bogged down. The back nine took 2 1/2 hrs, and the ranger was driving around, but couldn't get slow groups moving. There was a lot of waiting around on each hole. That's not typically Buffalo Grove. All in all the staff is friendly and the course is usually kept in good shape. Holes 2,5, & 6 have small greens and need precise shots. Holes 12 & 16 Par 5's can be challenging to get a par as you have to plan your shots carefully. My favorite hole is 13 which is a short dogleg right and a good drive makes a birdie a strong possibility. I would highly recommend this course for all level of golfers.
Fun Course to Play
Have played Buffalo Grove many times and its always a pleasure. I travel over 30 miles to get to it. The staff is always courteous and I like it because the ranger always is driving around to keep pace of play moving. For a public course the keep the course in great shape and the greens are always in great shape. On this day they were even working on some sand traps to recondition them, which is not always paid attention to on public courses. The course requires some good planning on shots and holes 2, 5, 6 and 15 have small greens, which require accurate shots. Always a pleasure to play BG. The only complaint I have is the Wild Buffalo restaurant which was redone from the previous bar and grill. The prices are high and it doesn't have the same golf feeling as the previous bar and grill did.
Up to a great season
It’s still early by Chicago standards, but the course was in a good shape. Pace of play was good and staff ready for the season.
Was in good condition for the time of year
Course and greens we're surprisingly good considering the weather lately
This is a FUN course to play.
I've played this course multiple times and this was the first time that I've ever played it in 5 hrs. Usually there is a Marshall driving around, but the group in front of us was extremely slow and they were 2 holes behind the group in front of them. They were part of an outing, and it made for a day of constantly waiting to hit because of the group. For a public course BG does take pride in trying tot keep the course up. There is several areas that need repairing in the fairway due to the amount of rain that has caused some damage. It is challenging on some holes because the greens are small and some greens are deceptive with the slope especially with certain pin placements. Challenging holes are #'s 2,4,5,10,12, 16. The staff at BG is always friendly and courteous. One course that I always enjoy playing.
Excellent Greens
For the most part a very good course. The greens were perfect in my opinion. True breaks and no awkward humps through putts. Pace of play was a little bit concerning. Should move to 10 minute tee-times and it would resolve that issue. Otherwise great course would probably play again (maybe not for $65, but did enjoy it).
Biggest Bang for Your Buck
I golfed this course with a few buddies and needless to say I was overwhelmingly impressed. The condition this course was in was excellent. The fairways greener than ever, the greens (a bit fast) very well maintained. I'm happy to see a course like this in my area. Pace of play was dead on accurate with the ranger maintaining great time with each group. This is a fun track, so don't sleep on this one guys..
Good "Run-of-Mill" Muni.
Nothing too remarkable about this course. Layout is ok. Good mix of long and short par 4's. Great course for walkers. Very little elevation change and short walks between greens & tees. Greens were in good shape. It's not a "goat path" by any means but don't bother bringing your camera.
Great condition - greens were in perfect shape with no ball marks. Pace of play was great -
So slow
Pace of play was horrible.
3 hours to complete the front 9 is ridiculous.
Everyone on the course was slowed down by an idiotic 4 some, with no skills whatsoever and of course playing the back tee to enjoy their round to the max.
The ranger couldn't care less and let that circus continue all afternoon despite all other groups complaints! He just took a nap under a tree smoking his cigarettes.
Course conditions are poor right now, like most courses in the area that suffered from July floods.
Seems like Buffalo Grove is trying had to shutdown this place to claim the land and build some condos.
Not bad during the week
Breezed through nine holes on Monday. Solid public course in the Subarbs.
That one slow group...
unfortunately one very slow group ruined the day for those which followed. Golf course management did their best to move these folks along but they decided to six hour round was acceptable.
Very Good Course at Reasonable Price
I have played BG about fifty times over the years, but not in more than a decade. It was exactly as I remembered it - a solid layout in good condition. If you hit the ball well, you can score well. If not, there are plenty of problems waiting for you. I recommend it.
very accomidating
I was running late for my tee time. They asked me when I would make it there. They set me up with a tee time for an hour later. That was perfect. Thanks Buffalo Grove Golf Club.
