Buffalo Grove Golf Course
About
Buffalo Grove Golf Club is an 18-hole municipal course that offers an enjoyable round for players of all skill levels. The gently rolling terrain is covered with mature trees and wetlands, all of which provide challenges on the course. In addition to the natural hazards, there are a few strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Accuracy will be helpful when maneuvering the tree-lined fairways but it's not a terribly punishing golf course. There are a few tricky spots, but overall it's a forgiving and player-friendly layout. It's ideal for beginners and also good for a quick and casual round for any skill level. The golf course's affordability is another appealing aspect of the course. Buffalo Grove G.C. also offers a practice facility with a 25-station driving range and pitching and chipping greens.

Honest golf course.
First the bad news....we were teed off behind four groups of octogenarians walking the front 9. It took three hours to make it to the turn. All my respect goes to those who endured the World War and fought for our freedom.
The good news....the course is in great shape. The greens are a bit slow ( not a bad thing) for those used to pool table greens. Smack the ball with a putter to get there or put on a skirt. Sorry ladies.
Course was very good..
Fair test especially from the back tees. Found course in excellent condition discounting playing soft though from torential rains 36 hours before. Sand traps were still moist heavy.
This course was well maintained
I think the course conditions have improved since 1 year ago. The greens were great , in fact every detail of the course was what you would want to play in. Except for the trees getting in my way, I loved it. The only negative thing for me was there was not cart service on the course and a pretty hot day. Our t-time was 2:00p.m. at the heat of the day! We were able to get a bag of ice from the bar before we started which did help!
Nice track
I played this for the first time. Course was in good condition. The track is nice with some challenging holes. The only comment I have is the majority of people playing walked while I reserved for riding. It would have been nice if I was told when I checked in I would be playing with three walkers then I would have walked myself. Otherwise I enjoyed the day and the course.
Pleasant Place to play
This was the third round we played and find the course conditions to be consistent. Good practice facilities, outstanding, friendly and helpful staff. The bar and food afterward was very good. Course plays 6400 yard from the white tees so you do need to keep the ball in front of you. Course is fair. Have yet to go longer than 4 hours for a round.
Average Park Dist Course
Typical park district course, the round was nothing special. The course was in decent enough shape with the typical muni issues; ball marks on greens, fairway divots, loud foursomes & occasionally getting hit into.
The bar area on the clubhouse is very nice, but the staff (bartender Sharron specifically) seemed disinterested in servicing.
A challenging and fun course.
All aspects of the course from the staff to the conditions of the course were excellent.
Good course but terrible condition
Buffalo grove golf course is a very good municipal course. Living closely I used to enjoy playing there.
My last experience was quite disappointing :(
The course was in a terrible condition, lot of ground under repair, lot of bad ground that should be repaired. The course obviously suffered during the winter and suffered a lot from this wet summer.
Pace of play was horrible, starter did a poor job managing tee times and grouping people for a better experience. Also, mixing walkers and riders contribute to make things worse.
A nice, average golf course
I've played Buffalo Grove many times. But I've played it only when I can get a good deal on GolfNow. I do this because I don't think the course provides the value for the price of a normal week day or weekend greens fee.
But first, the good news. Buffalo Grove will challenge you with its many fairway and greenside bunkers. Many of the greens are small so your accuracy on approach shots must be spot-on. The greens were in good shape when I played and they are generally fairly fast. Most importantly they hold their line very well.
The sand in the bunkers isn't fine but it isn't coarse either. So if you're a good bunker player, you shouldn't have any trouble getting out of the sand.
Trees come into play on the course and so do creeks and high grass. However, even though most of the fairways are wide you'll have trouble if you spray the ball all over the place.
The staff at Buffalo Grove have always been very friendly and have always been more than willing to take the time to answer any questions I had.
My biggest complaint about Buffalo Grove has always been the length of grass on the fairways. Many times when I hit the ball in the fairway I couldn't see the ball until I got about twenty yards from it. This was ridiculous. Good fairway shots should be rewarded with good lies (absent divots and severe undulations). And sometimes I couldn't distinguish the fairway from the rough while standing over my ball.
I recommend that you try Buffalo Grove (at a reasonable price of course) and form your own opinion. Many times one's judgment about a golf course is like one's judgment about pizza (i.e., very subjective).
courses were managed well!
Fisrt tilme this year ,but course was managed well . Played well and had fun . Furing thr first 9 holes ,it rained so not so good to play . Overall i was satisfied.
Very good ourse
Course is in ecellent shape, very nice fairways
We are regolar golfers of foursum.
We are retiered and its a good hobby to have it
best golf course I have ever played in
it was amazing everything was perfect every hole was long and challenging I can't wait to go back I'm constantly thinking about playing there again.
nice course
The golf course just removed a bunch of trees that needed to go .if you haven’t played there in a while you should check it out again.
Good value for the GolfNow rate
The pace could have been a little better as it seems they were packing them in often, but the course was challenging enough for playing at the beginning of golf season.
Average
Average course with good value specials. They need to stay on top of slow play here to ensure repeat play. Back nine is well laid out and greens ran true, despite aeration. Course is otherwise well run.
decent course
I've played this course numerous times over the years, but this year was different. They've taken down 186 trees on the front because of the ash borer!
It's a shame, but it has made the course a little easier!
Great opening day!
Played on opening day and had a great time! All things considered the course was in fine shape. Would definitely go back this summer. Staff was super friendly!
lay out is good for all levels, many holes with left or right turns
The course is in good shape except for the greens. But we expected that. it's winter.
Course was in good condition overall.
Didn't like that there was no drinking water or ball washers on the course. The greens were quite slow likely due to the amount of sand on the greens and the aeration that appear to have been recently done.
Otherwise it was a good weather day and an enjoyable round.
