Far Oaks Golf Club
About
Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville has a unique layout with a front nine that is designed in a Scottish-links style and a back nine that plays through rolling woodlands. The links holes are framed with native prairie grasses and wildflowers while mature oak trees line the fairways on the back nine. There are plenty of elevation changes throughout the golf course, making it hard to find a flat lie. Mounding and strategically placed bunkers lurk treacherously along the greensides and there are also several holes with water. Far Oaks Golf Club is a challenging course that demands accuracy, which is most apparent on the 10th hole. Although it's not the longest par 4 on the course, it is still challenging thanks to a slew of bunkers that border both sides of the green.

Course was in great shape except for the few bunkers that were hard as concrete. Over the last few years this course has had trouble with bunkers whether I'm in them or not. Overall the course is always in fantastic shape. Love this course. The people who work in the pro shop could have a little more personality.
Fine Course
This course costs a bit more for the standard rate compared to other courses, but 3 of the 4 players in my group got discounts, making it very affordable. The course was in great shape. Starter on hole #1 is nice, although our tee time was late/mid morning and tee times were already running late. Pace of play was slow on the front 9, but not unbearable by any means. Pace picked up considerably on the back 9. Greens were in great shape.
Super Slow
Course is nice but it always takes for-evvverrr to play a round because they overbook. There is usually a backlog of golfers on the first hole waiting to tee off.
Doesn't matter if it's 7:00AM or 2:00PM be prepared for a 6 hour round.
No Wow factor
The only reason i play here is when i get a great deal on Golf Now. The course itself is just not as beautiful and appealing as other local courses. There is one port a john on the whole course and it's on hole 15. Which is after you stop in the club house so really not useful. Not very female friendly at all. Play was extremely, painfully slow. We ended up playing with another two some just to keep from waiting so long. Although it's somewhat challenging it's not a course you want to have to play cart path only on. Not a good deal for your money if you have to pay full fee.
Very nice course and convient
Beautiful course and challenging. Very nice course for the price I paid. Would play this course again if I'm ever in the area.
Course was wet but still in great shape.
golf course is in great shape. it pourd all morning so it was very wet, but still very playble. The pro who was inside couldn't have been more friendly.. I play here a few times a mont and I'm looking forward to returning.
wide fairways houses do not come into play
good course for the moneyt
This course was wonderful.
The course is in really good shape. The pace of play was quick with no waiting. We really enjoyed the great design and amazing weather.
Far Oaks
Overall good course, nice layout. Would no doubt rate condition higher in another month or so since just coming out of winter.
Great value
Pace of play is the only issue I have had in the past hear. A Marshall cruising around would help
Great Course
Great Course. Only downfall for the day was pace of play. I was in a twosome playing behind a foursome. We started waiting at every hole for at least 10 min in order to tee off starting at hole 10. The group did not let us play through. If a course ranger could patrol the course in order for these situations not to happen, that would be great.
Enjoyable Challenge
Found an early morning discounted rate on GolfNow for second tee time. Foursome with first tee time let me play through as a single on second hole. This is a challenging track with numerous elevation changes. Need to play several rounds to learn the nuances and optimum target areas on some of the holes. A few holes require shorter, well placed tee shots with 3-metal, hybrid or long iron to avoid running through fairways to hazards. Course was in good shape and very playable although weather was cold and windy. Only criticism was that the sprinklers had not been turned off on the 2nd and 3rd greens until after I had played through the holes. Had to pick up and card two-putts on both. Will definitely play this course again when in St. Louis.
In good shape, but ...
there is a lot of water on the course. The starter warned us about roped-off areas, and they were all over the course. Additionally, there was standing water on a number of greens. Not sure where all the water is coming from.
Good layout, lots of waiting
Overall bad experience, but a good course. Far oaks has some interesting holes, and is in good shape overall (fairways, tee boxes, bunkers are good - some greens are pretty bad though). Our group, and most groups in sight were waiting about 10 minutes on every tee box (and almost 20 min. on #5). It took us about 5 hours to get through 15 holes before we had to leave for other plans. It's tough to find any value in an experience you can't reliably fit into your day - probably won't be back.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS COURSE!
Far Oakes is a joy to play, and when you're paired up with a couple of early morning regulars it's all the better. Had a fun time out and can't wait to see the guys again in a couple of weeks.
The course is gorgeous winding through some of the prettiest homes I've seen in the area. Setup is challenging but not too tough. Some of the greens are seriously canted which makes for some exciting putts.
The greens - folks, FIX YOUR BALL MARKS and PICK UP YOUR FEET (don't drag your spikes)!!! It's absolutely disrespectful to the property and the players following you. It's small thing that can kill a course.
Overall loved it - hope to make Far Oakes the "home course".
Great course!!!
Was shocked at the condition of this course for the money I paid. I expected your regular run of the mill course set inside a subdivision. I was quite surprised when I pulled into the parking lot and saw this place. Well maintained and and excellent accommodations. Beautiful layout with challenging aspects. I will be back.
Good course but move your pin positions
Golf course is great. It is a fun layout that gives players a lot of options off the tee. Fairways and Tees are perfect, however they need to move their hole locations to different areas of their greens. This is a great public course that has a lot of rounds but their greens are beat up because the hole locations are always in the same general area. I understand the need to give the greens plenty of water when it is this hot but move the locations around and the greens would look and hold up better
Greens were terrible
This used to be my favorite course. Tee boxes were fair, fairways were good, greens were in horrible condition. Not worth the high price
Awesome course, great pace and value!
Great layout, reachable par 5's on the front, more open front 9. Back 9 is tighter and requires more layups. It's a great mix of holes and fun to play. Pace of play is very good. Even when it's "slow", I play 18 in 4 hours.
My home course, so glad I live close to it, will play it for years and never tire of the challenge!
Very nice course!!
Course was very nice. Greens need a little attention but generally in good shape. Definitely a course to play if in the St Louis area. Good value for the price.
We played last week as a threesome and waited each hole but so did the group in front of us - but still had a 4 hour 20 minute round...pace was right at fair play.
