Far Oaks Golf Club
About
Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville has a unique layout with a front nine that is designed in a Scottish-links style and a back nine that plays through rolling woodlands. The links holes are framed with native prairie grasses and wildflowers while mature oak trees line the fairways on the back nine. There are plenty of elevation changes throughout the golf course, making it hard to find a flat lie. Mounding and strategically placed bunkers lurk treacherously along the greensides and there are also several holes with water. Far Oaks Golf Club is a challenging course that demands accuracy, which is most apparent on the 10th hole. Although it's not the longest par 4 on the course, it is still challenging thanks to a slew of bunkers that border both sides of the green.

No gps??
This course is advertised with gps and doesnt have gps on the carts. There were no markers anywhere on the course either. It is pretty frustrating to play golf when you dont know your distances.
Cabin fever cure
Course was in good shape considering we've had a bad winter, wish the practice range would allow for more than just irons to be used. Great course absolutely would play there again.
Love Far Oaks
Far Oaks is easily one of the top few courses in the STL area.
Play there. That's pretty much all you need to know.
One of the nicest courses in the area!
Well kept course with plenty of challenging holes. Some holes were wide open, some had hidden shots, some were in the woods, and some were in the nice housing of Far Oaks. Greens were clean and consistant through all 18. I enjoyed this course and will play it again.
We really enjoyed the wildlife: deer, owls, hawks, racoons, but not these geese. Holes 17 & 18 had too many goose minefields, which included the greens.
Fun Course
This course is quite nice, easily in the top 10 publics around STL.
The opening hole is an enticing short par 5 that can either get your round started right or kill it early if you get greedy/stupid. Because you tee off right in front of the clubhouse/ practice swing you tend to want to showboat a bit, which will get you in trouble!
This course isn't overly difficult and doesn't have all the cute bunkers down the way at Stonewolf, but its fun, challenging while still allowing scoring opportunities for the average golfer.
I highly recommend!
Good early morning loop.
Cart path only makes it a little slower than normal. Was warranted, many soggy fairways. Course in good condition, greens rolled great except for the many golfers who never repair their ball marks on greens. Averaged at least 2 repairs on every green!! Come on people!!!!!
Fall golf at Far Oaks
We got a great deal on Golf Now. Course was in great condition. Greens and the pace of play was a little slow but overall a great experience.
Very nice course with good variety
Having never played it, I was pleasantly surprised with the course.
the layout of the course is spacious.
Enjoyed the openness of most of the fairways. Nice to have played with a couple who knew the ins and outs of the fairways. Greens were in good condition. Will definitely play again even though it's 45 min away.
Great pace of play, not crowed.
Light play at the time of day I played. Course in decent but nor pristine condition. The weakness of this course is the layout, changed to allow more real estate sales. Should have been left alone.
Amazing condition for this time of the year.
The course is in outstanding shape, especially for early October. The bent-grass fairways were in perfect condition, the lay-out is challenging & I can't wait to play it again. Especially more often next year.
Great views and played well
Some of the views are pretty amazing at this course. The course played very fast (which I really like) but that may have been due to the weather (it was cloudy and rained on us a couple of times but nothing major). The only minor issue is that the greens could use some work. They were a little beat up and didn't roll very true because of this.
Lots of picturesque views and excellently maintain
Good value, almost nobody else on the course on a Wednesday early morning. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Lots of variety on this course.
This course has it all, long par 5s, par 4s you have to lay up with an iron to a par 3 where the tee box is set up on the other side of a creek and drops down to a huge green that can be exceedingly challenging depending on the cup placement.
very nice course
The course is very nice very well kept. The pace of play was good considering the amount of people that where out playing.
Bang for buck
Booked at a good rate and early tee time. This works well because I cant stand slow play. The course was in good shape.
My new favorite course!
From tee to green in great shape. There are some greens that are freckled with divot marks. The fairways were PERFECT! Spongy, dense grass and the ball always stands high. Challenging for all levels. I liked it better than Annbriar and that's saying something. Best public course on the Illinois side of the river in St Louis area.
One of St. Louis' best
Far Oaks is one of my favorite public courses in St. Louis, with tee boxes of different levels of difficulty. Each hole is different, and most have a lot of "character" in their make-up. With 2 of the four Par 5s reachable in two for most golfers, yet punishing with a ravine and water it you make a mistake, it gives the average golfer hopes to have an eagle putt. The elevated tee box on #16 par 3 is a fun one to hit and watch as it travels on the green. The "Pro Tips" on the GPS are very effective.
Beautiful Fairways
Excellent conditions. Course in very good shape. Pace of play was good.
Course is well manicured.
The course is a nice course to play. Well kept and grounds are manicured. Easy to get to.
