Fun to play
Despite the wind the course was in good condition and fun to play
Pace of Play is awful here
Starter does not even pay attention to have groups tee off at the correct time. No ranger driving around to ensure groups are moving. Lot of people just spending 20-30 min on a hole just dragging their feet .
Good Track
This is a great Chicago Parks track. They do a really great job on course maintenance. Not a ton of yardage off the tees but they do a great job making sure the rough makes the yardage longer if you can’t stay on the fairway. Greens always in good shape. Get it on the fairway and you can go low.
Great experience, except
This a beautiful course that's in excellent shape! Very worth your while. The starters are great but the dude doing check in at the clubhouse does not appear to know how the system works. I showed him my receipt and apparently he saw my reservation but kept saying I didn't pay. But I had paid online in advance. He was doing his best to get/scam me into paying twice. I had to do a lot of convincing otherwise. Totally clueless and not a good first impression for IBGC.
Very Pleasantly Suprised
If you havent played in the last 2 years, try this course again. Best bang for your buck in the area. Can't wait to play again. I live within 5 min and wish I would've re-found this course sooner.
Used to play this course a lot 20 years ago as a teen during high school. Last time was with a buddy in 2016 and not much changed. Back then - Weird rubber mats for tees, VERY long greens and you could spray the ball anywhere without consequences.
Now - WOW! Visually very nice. Hardscaping and landscaping, halfway house, and a beverage cart! Shows they care.
BUT THE COURSE - Well kept and placed tees (except for 1 but we all get 1). Nice greens that are undulating and challenging. Fairways that are fairways, not just shorter backyard grass. Rough is well maintained and thick without being ridiculously punishing.
Now, even though I'm overly happy with the course for what it is, it's not the very best course ever, it's just a great value for the area and more than worth the price for tee time.
Great course to go out and have fun. Great value for the money. Enjoy it every single time
Beautiful scenery
Great course, very open and spacious. The scenery is spectacular, it doesn’t feel like you’re close to Chicago. Saw plenty of wildlife too, family of deer including a 6 point buck, and a lone fox! Pace was great, staff super friendly. Love the layout, will definitely play here again.
