Getting what you pay for
Very long grass, easy holes, but a nice way to spend your Sunday afternoon
Solid Course
Good bang for your buck! Course is pretty solid shape, non challenging layout
A great value for what you get.
The price to golf played is top notch. We managed to get a pretty cheap round, but the conditions due to weather made our round very difficult. Standing water (which the course didn't have anything to do with, of course) kept the ball from running out, so I think we got a bad example of what the round "should" feel like.
The fairway setup was a little unusual, with it being difficult to discern the rough from the fairway at times, but over all the holes were straight forward.
The greens had likely seen better days as all of our putts were extremely slow and they were cut a little fuzzy for my liking, and very bumpy after some aeration. If I catch the course in the right time I'm sure those issues will be much better.
I'd play it again, but primarily because of the price and the variety of par 3/4/5 it offers.
Course review
The course was links style for beginners to intermediate players. Hardly any hazards. Quality of green was not very great. Staff were helpful. Enjoyed the experience.
Great beginner course
Columbus GC is a great course for beginners or for practice. Wide fairways that lie next to each other with barely any trees to separate them make it easy to recover from wayward shots. Holes 5 and 8 are the most challenging. Great to see lots of kids playing this course, but it sometimes slows down the pace of play.
Best Value in Chicago
Best value in Chicago by far especially with the Chicago card. Can get backed up but building a put out and chipping range.
