Course review
The course was links style for beginners to intermediate players. Hardly any hazards. Quality of green was not very great. Staff were helpful. Enjoyed the experience.
Great beginner course
Columbus GC is a great course for beginners or for practice. Wide fairways that lie next to each other with barely any trees to separate them make it easy to recover from wayward shots. Holes 5 and 8 are the most challenging. Great to see lots of kids playing this course, but it sometimes slows down the pace of play.
Best Value in Chicago
Best value in Chicago by far especially with the Chicago card. Can get backed up but building a put out and chipping range.
Hidden gem being revealed
You use ti be able to walk onto this course almost any time Saturday and Sunday and not wait more than 10 min to tee off! Not anymore! But you can get in sooner than any other course.
This course is great for all players. If you slice or hook, the course is forgiving. If you want to a good score and play without a driver or 3 wood to practice with your other clubs, this course offers that. Enough hazards to keep you on your toes and pin placement can challenge you for putting.
The chipping area is getting a makeover and a putting green is going to be added. The course needs water stations or drink person. A food station would slap.
Pace of play is decent, this is more for newer players to know that 15 min a hole is the absolute max in my mind. Most people walk the course but still.
I would like to keep this course of all the radars but the only way to get a better course is to get more people playing.
Solid Public 9 Holes
With very wide fairways and fairways and rough that weren’t too dissimilar, this course was a fun and easy round. The greens were simple but kept in good shape. The sand traps were put in solid spots. Overall it wasn’t a difficult course with anything other than some trees on the edges and a few bunkers. I liked the course overall. The only negative was the pace of play. It was a Sunday afternoon and took two and a half hours to complete the 9-hole round.
