Rough
The fairways were ultra dry and the ball rolled forever. Also, the greens were just aerated so they were extremely bumpy. Uncharacteristic for this course.
Meh
Fairways were brown and dry. Drives bounced and rolled forever. Greens were recently aerated and bumpy. Normally like this course but was quite rough this time around.
Great course but it was bone dry and often rick hard.
Fun course
It's a fun course, no sand, but good greens. Some dry spots but I'm no pro so it was good for me.
Good 9hole course
I like it because it's located close from my house. It's a excellent course for practice and a course to test my golf proficiency.
Fun 9 hole course
Nice 9 hole course on NW side of Chicago, about a 20-30 drive from Lakeview East. Decent course conditions, fairways a little sketchy due to dryness. Pretty short course (no par 5) but still some challenging holes. Pace of Play was ok, had to wait on a few holes but generally moved along pretty well.
Great staff, well-organized and friendly.
Definitely worth the price!
Quick and Easy
This is a nice place to get some on course practice.
Love this track!
Course was in good shape and the wildlife is a plus!
BC
I enjoy playing BC, although it’s a slower round w/ many choosing to walk you can’t beat playing a round for $20.
Great Course for Beginners/Intermediate
The course is pretty straight with barely any major hazards outside of trees. There are two holes that share the same water hazard but there are no sand bunkers. Fairways are wide for the most part leading up to the Greens which tend to play fast and straight as well. This is a great course for someone looking to cut their teeth on a real course coming from the driving range. And it cost as much as a bucket of balls.
That being said - if you care at all about pace of play - go somewhere else especially on the weekends. I play solo so I'm paired with 3 other people among varying skill levels. The fastest I've played 9 is 2 hours but expect to play 3 hours. While I don't really mind it (I walk and I've been able to get to green in regulation after only 2 months of practice) there are people who treat this course like one that costs at least twice as much. Some guy who was behind us yelled at my group comprised of 2 people playing for the very first time on the second hole instead of asking to play through. The other people in his group didn't seem to have an issue with it. So if you have somewhere to be after golf, don't play this one.
There are no rangers keeping pace, the course is relatively groomed but it being close to the river, it tends to get pretty wet and stay wet after it rains.
Slow pace of play
The course has a decent layout. The greens had plenty of unreplaced divots. Some greens had traces of golfers chipping to another fairway based on the marks left behind.
No course starter/ranger which backed up play and start times. It’s what you expect from a municipal course with mediocre management in place.
