Klein Creek Golf Club
About
Klein Creek Golf Club sprawls across acres of rolling prairieland in the western suburbs of Chicago. Trees frame the layout's gentle doglegs and tall prairie grasses border the fairways. It is a golf course that offers both beautiful scenery and a challenging round. Several lakes also dot the landscape, coming into play on almost every hole. The abundant water hazards are often coupled with spacious, intricately designed bunkers that are also usually paired with wood retaining walls. Contoured mounding frames the fairways and greens as well. Klein Creek Golf Club's layout is not easy by any means but it's fair, offering room for error on even the tougher holes with wide fairways and generous landing areas. There are a variety of approach options for the greens as well, providing great risk-reward opportunities.

Not worth the $$
Cons:
*Horrible cart paths with stones and gravel, not paved
*No clear signs of what hole you’re on or where the next hole is.
* No ball washers at any tee boxes
* No water stations throughout course
* No cart service
* Halfway house didn’t have ANY food at 11am
* No GPS carts
Pros:
*Friendly staff and rangers
* greens were in good condition and rolled true
* fairways were in good condition
* rough was thick
* handicap indexes incorrect and seemed completely opposite. 1 was easiest and 17 was 2nd hardest..
Getting Better
Course & amenities much better but still need work in some bunkers and unplayable areas.
Staff was excellent but wish they didn’t change food menu.
Course is work in progress in some areas
Greens ran true and many holes are very scenic with water on 14 of the18 holes. Re-working of many bunkers into grass spots is early in the process. Sand in actual bunkers is soft and playable. Overall a nice course
Priced yourselves out of range
This course hit rock bottom a few years ago, but some of us loved it and continued to play there. Then it was purchased, and money poured in and it was brought back to great standards. But now, they limit public assess with the focus on their members and no longer even offer senior rates on weekends. We had a group that has 18 members, all of whom have come out to play there over the years. But no longer.
Good luck with your plans for membership as your base, but you will not be seeing our group there again anytime soon.
I would be happy to give it a 4 rating, but with the prices changes in the last year or two,,, its a 1. Sorry.
Some good some bad
For the price of this course you should have a GPS and that dirt sand is comical at this price.
I love this course
Overall great course. I love the layout of the course and the greens and fairways are in great shape. The food and bar have great service I was astonished how good the Old Fashioned was made. Can’t wait to get back to this place.
Klein Creek, still a farm
Needs a lot of improvements for the greens fees they are asking. Not worth the money. The carts don’t even have GPS
Good overall course
Great course. Good, fun rangers. Nice layout with good amounts of difficulty. Fast greens that really make you work!
Course seems to be working hard to get better.,Traps need some TLC. Little pricey compared to other courses. Staff very friendly, bar/restaurant was great.
sand traps were re-done and are excellent. Just need to work on improving cart paths and would be nice to have electronic scoring in the cart.
1st Time Playing KC in 2 years
I live a mile from Klein Creek and used to play it at least a handful of times every year, but the course changed ownership a few years ago, and the cost to play ($65) wasn't worth it for me. Fortunately, they finally decided to offer some Hot Deals on GolfNow, so I booked a round for $45.
I've always enjoyed the layout of this course, even though it is surrounded by homes & condos. The conditions have varied over the years, with the worst being the state of the sand bunkers. There are a ton of bunkers on this course, so they just couldn't maintain all of them over the years. Well, they're now in the process of eliminating a bunch of the bigger ones by making them grass bunkers. Unfortunately, this has created a lot of areas which are under construction still. However, the greens are the best I've ever seen them and the new bunkers have irrigation and very good quality sand. I think in a few years, this course will be first rate once again.
