Great day of golf
The course was in good shape considering the drought we have been in and we moved along with no problems.
Second time I've played here in the past week. Course is in good shape. Course is very forgiving for a novice golfer such as myself. I will be playing this course a lot in the future.
Surprisingly good maintenance
A $16 hot deal (with fee) got me out to this track that I've long ignored for over a decade. Back then it was extremely doggy/poor conditions and it's just not the type of layout that beckons you to come back to it again and again. With a light tee sheet and proper rate of $30 or less (that's the max I'd ever ever pay to play this place)....but when crowded along with high handicappers no thanks....because this should be a course you can and should be able to play in well under 4 hours. They had just aerated the greens that morning (medium holes) but had also rolled and double cut them. Expecting the worst I was surprised that the greens still had extremely good speed and weren't as bumpy as anticipated. That being said when they do sand the greens and fill the holes in the next few days I expect greens won't be up to snuff until next season. Course is extremely tight in some areas - the 1st fairway might be 20 yards wide in the landing area. Lack of rain so it was playing hard and fast but the fairways had definition and decent grass. Rough was hit or miss but kept at a decent length. Sand traps are basically dust but they were maintained except for lazy golfers not raking. No range, water jugs on course, a really dated clubhouse and locker room facilities. The course itself just isn't that inspiring and mainly flat. The Par 4 3rd hole requires a huge draw tee shot and most times you're over 200 yards out or if you hit it through the fairway long or right you' could be blocked by the maintenance bldg. 6th and 8th holes are par 4 440 yard beasts. Several smaller greens and some have lost their size over the years so they are even smaller. The 9th and 16th holes have lost their back tee boxes so houses don't get peppered with errant tee shots. The back nine is short and sporty but the 17th is a solid par 4 requiring an accurate tee shot between towering oaks to a 20 yard wide fairway and nice inifinity uphill approach. All in all it's a place I'd recommend if you want to tune up your short iron game. The conditions again were surprisingly very good but when the area gets heavy rains this course does get pretty swampy. A solid 3 stars plus....I was expecting to give it less prior to play but can't.....they have put a lot of work into improving the conditions and there's something to be said about that absent of a less than inspiring routing and design.
This course has been going through some
Positive improvements.
The greens are in the best condition in 25 Years
It’s over all course conditions have improved greatly
This year.
The 19 hole the sand trap is a great bar restaurant
Perfect way to end the round with a cold one and a bite
To eat.

Great day for golf
I brought two guests to play Carriage Greens and was able to take advantage of a GolfNow discount that was amazing. The course is very pretty and well cared for with lovely homes surrounding it. We played 18 holes in less than 4 hours and could't have asked for a better day. We'll definitely be back.
Awesome condition
I’ve been playing here for years. This course has never been in such great condition!! Greens are awesome. Fairways cut tight tight.. I’m very impressed. This course has never looked and played so well.. Props to the head greens keeper. He is definitely killing it!!
Can’t wait to go back..very impressed!!
Carriage Greens CC
The tee boxes and greens were lush and green. The fairways were in good shape. You can tell they take care of this course. The ladies tees are a little small (narrow). The course difficulty is easy. The Pro Shop is underwhelming. You rarely see a ranger, so at times, the pace of play may be slow. There is no driving range to use for warm up.
Carriage greens 2017
I have played this course many times for many years, and the current condition of the course is some of the best conditions I've seen on it in a long time… Especially the greens! Good value, and great location
quick 9
So my friend and I thought we'd get in a quick 9 so they started us on the Back 9 and we finished the whole thing in an hour and 15 minutes. we couldn't believe what time it was when we were finished. If we weren't keeping track on the scorecard I would have thought we missed a hole or 2.
Average course $4.00 for a can of Miller Lite! Staff was rude. Starter was friendly.
Fix the cart paths!
We got hooked up with another couple that also used Golf Now at 1pm. Terry & Jackie were a fun couple. We made the turn in 1:50. The cart paths on the front were horrific, coming in they were much better. The girls were complaining that the Red tee boxes were way too small. I never seen tee boxes that were that compact. Some were 4' X 6' and very uneven. The back nine slowed to a snails pace. Two hours for 5 holes. We left after 14. They had a Tourney in front of us earlier in the day. This Course is quite average with a fun bar.
Loved the course. The greens were a real challenge. Will come back again to take the course on again.
Pleasant surprise
I had sworn off this course 2 years ago after a bad experience with a rude (IMO) starter and horrendously slow play. I decided to give it a second chance and was pleasantly surprised by course conditions and pace of play. We started at 7A and finished at 9:40A on a Tuesday morning. They "reversed" the 9's; I preferred the original set-up but this was not a big deal.
There are a couple of holes that could be improved. The par 3 2nd hole is so severely sloped that if played from above the hole, it is difficult not to putt the ball off the green. Needs to be stimped a bit slower. The 3rd hole is strange with a 200 yard tee shot and then 90 degree dogleg--plays hybrid then hybrid for me. The 14th hole has a "hidden" stream at about 240 yards--odd for short hole (not really "risk v. reward") so better to lay up. The 15th (par 3) has a large tree on the right of the green that partially obstructs the green--also odd and should be cut back IMO. The 16th has a tree directly in front of the tee box--really odd and should be cut down completely.
Liked the drivable par 4 9th and par 3 5th holes. If I recall they changed two of the holes from short par 5's to long par 4's. Both are very tough par 4's now, especially the 8th hole which required a good drive and a hybrid for me to reach.
Overall nice job guys. Tremendous improvement.
Carriage Greens - Unnecessary irritating check-in
If you book your round on Golf Now, prepare to get dressed down verbally at check-in if you do not physically bring your booking verification. The person in charge that day went on a tirade when I did not bring in my confirmation of booking. He lectured me saying "All you Golf Now people fail to bring your required booking confirmations as required". When I started to respond he continued berating me for not having the confirmation with me. He went on to say, "You know I don't have to let you play without your confirmation!" He did let me play. When I went to the starter and gave him my name and start time, he immediately checked it off as I was on his list correctly! So why did that "genius" at check-in make such a fuss since he did have my name and time listed. He is obviously someone who wields his little authority like a baseball bat. It was unnecessary and humiliating as a paid golfer. I hope that others from Golf Now beware if he is there as I am certain this is his normal behavior.
Great for beginners
I've only been playing for the last couple years but as I continue to learn, this course was great for starting out. The course was well taken care of, carts were nice, staff was helpful and friendly, and overall a pleasant place to be. There were limited selection in the pro shop but it also looks like they are in the middle of a remodel. Great valve and would definitely recommend.
Huge course improvement
I've played Carriage Greens in the past, and always thought it was just a cheap course to get 18 in. I've talked to some staff, and they said the new golf pro or general manager or superintendent (can't remember which one) has really turned the place around, and it's spot on. The course is in excellent shape. I sure hope it draws more golfers in, because the course deserves it. Just wish the course drained better after it rains. Overall, I highly recommend it.
