Nice Course
I like playing this course. I am not a real good golfer but this course is challenging for me but enjoyable.
Backed up!
Went golfing Wednesday at 10:10, saw no one on the course. By the 3rd hole backed up by 2 foursomes. Waited it out and were told to jump ahead at the turn. Went from 9-13 and they were backed up terribly. Just headed back and waited everything out. The round took 5 hrs.
A nice place
A good round of golf. Lunch break after 9th hole sucked. Cold Hot Dogs with stale buns, and not very cold beer. Yuck. Staff not very friendly either.
Getting Better
Carriage Greens was in rough shape the last few times a I played it. I hadn't been there in 3-4 years and was not real happy when a friend chose this course. However, it's getting better. You can tell new ownership has started to put some money into it, especially the greens, which were in really good shape. This course is pretty easy but has some quirky holes and is great for beginner/intermediate level players. Hopefully the trend that has started here will continue and the course will improve over the next few years.
Hidden Gem
This course is just the right level of difficulty. Challenging for low handicappers, but still playable for any high handicappers in your group. The clubhouse staff is very friendly and accommodating. They even have a ranger out on the course making sure the pace of play keeps moving along. Now THAT is what I'm talking about! I've never had a round take longer than 4 hours out here.
They don't like golf now at Carriage greens
I booked golf now the day of play and went to the course. The price to play had just dropped so I had to give this course an other try. I arrived at the course and was informed by a young man that because of standing water the course was closed. Most other courses were open it was sunny out and had rained the night before. I ask for his help to contact golf now because they need to hear from the course that they are closed. The young man was going to help me when the Manager an older guy told me" that you problem you booked though golf now" we don't have any agreement with you" what a jerk. I called golf now and they spoke to the you man and credited my charge I will never forget how I was treated by the Carriage greens Manger. and how he bashed golf now customers don't play here!
It is going to be real nice in a few years
Grass clipping piling up in rough, no yardage marking anywhere, greens are great, course set up is good
Sloooooow Play
Course was fine, staff was unwelcoming, play was fall asleep slow. No ranger on course to move things along. Had a two some two groups ahead, they were each playing two balls, mostly out of the trees. If there was a ranger to catch this and tell them to go to the range to practice shots not the course the day might have been enjoyable. Probably won't be back.
Good course for the money
The course was very fair, we knew target golf was best strategy. This is due to many holes with doglegs.
Greens were flat, allowing long and short putts a chance.
We enjoyed the course, despite the pouring rain on the last few holes.
OK course poor staff
Played today with my son. When I made the tee time I asked for the rates and was told 55 regular and 35 for Sr. When we showed up we were told Sr rates don't apply on Saturday. That may be true but that is not what I was told. Management refused to make good on their employees error. In fact what I was told was "We'll take responsibility for her error but we can't give you the Sr rate" What does that even mean? I just read an article saying golf rounds in the US are down 25% from it's all time high. I'm not going to stop playing golf, I'm just going to stop playing at Carriage Greens. Plenty of other courses and nicer too!
A suburban gem
Although surrounded by homes the course had a natural fell with rolling fairways and a good amount of trees. Some long par3s and 5s let you rip it. The best play was on the greens, they had slope and bends but rolled true. putting was so much fun when there were no surprize hops or sharp breaks 6 inches in front of the hole. Golf is great when you sink several 10-15" putts. Try it and have fun.
A great day golfingh
I thought the greens were excellent and overall the course was in great shape, especially for this time of the year.
coming together
we've had a regular tee time at carriage greens for 20 plus years. The course is in better shape now than I've ever seen it. Ron Bob and Dave friendly helpful staff always take good care of us. It's a great value and really turning into a hidden gem in the western suburbs.
Great value, great facilities
Fabulous day to play golf, got the senior rate, super value. Bar and restaurant always a stopover when I play there. Course a little dry, but always fun to play. Hope to get another round in before it snows....
Great Value
Myself and my two sons played. The cousr moved along a a great pace. Mo waiting to play. The course was in good shape and the greens were rolling true.
I rate this course as a good value for the green fees paid.
Reluctant
Had an 11 oclock tee off. All courses have to airate greens and sand them at the end of the year but not in this manner. Workers were rude and could have waited 1 more group to work on several of the greens, as there was a large gap behind us. It was truly a challenge to decifer greens from sand bunkers. To put in perspective how sandy the greens were I approached a green that a 4 some infront of us wrote in the green "needs more sand" in the sand on the green. I have a picture that I would post if possible. I would not recommend playing here.
Friedly staff, Golf Now Great Price
Last time I was here the course was a little shabby. Much better condition now. The cart guy was very helpful, last time he was a jerk.
Course is challenging with a good mix of shorter holes and difficult ones.
The deal we got through Golf Now was great
golf course
For sure top 5 quality courses in the area, clean and nicely maintained trees. Just need little Tee box care...
Poor Communication
I got a great rate for foursome - BUT, upon arrival we were told that there was an outing on the course and there was no estimate on what time we would get out. Our 4:00 te-time turned out to be 5:00, THEN an employee had the nerve to come out and tell us (at 7:45 while we were on the 15th hole tee-box) that the carts had to be in at 8:00 (in 15 mins). So we skipped 15, 16, and 17. Real bummer since the late start was not our fault. I would have appreciated a phone call warning that the course was behind.
