Nice old style country club course
Liked the houses along the course, especially since all were a good distance away (except for the 8th hole). The fairways were a bit rough and the grass was a little tall in spots even on the fairway. Greens were slow but well maintained.
Good value any day of the week.
White tees too easy for long hitters. Play blue tees for added difficulty. Greens are usually slow. Mature course, well kept, with some character.
Unable to finish round.
We were unable to finish our round because we had to have the cart back at 5:55. The marshal was collecting the greens flags while several groups were still playing. The marshal also informed us that we had to return our carts, and were not allowed to finish the round we pay for. This is the first course I have been to that does not allow you to play until it actually gets to dark.
Staff dropped the ball this time.
I've played this course several times before with no problems but this time they really dropped the ball! A glitch in the reservation system (not sure if it was the course or Golf Now) caused our tee time to not show up at the course, causing a conflict with an outing and overbooking the tee times. The course was stacked and the pace was VERY SLOW! The rangers did nothing to help. Then while we were putting, a foursome drives up playing VERY LOUD MUSIC! When I asked them to turn it down, they just laughed. Then I looked and there was a Ranger sitting there, again, doing nothing to help the situation until I demanded he do something. Also, there were many ball marks/divots not fixed and sand not raked, but sadly this is becoming the norm at public courses. Overall this has been a decent course and I hope this is not the direction this course is headed permanently.
Great deal for the fees. Green are in great shape.
The only. Negative is the lack of,players raking the traps. I can't put the fault on the course for that one.
Could be better....
I have always liked the layout at Carriage Greens. Unfortunately, pace of play here is usually very slow and the "rangers" don't really know how to keep things moving. The owners don't put any money back into the conditioning. I understand they only have 3 guys maintaining the whole course.
Who decided to paint the broken down sheds pink??? They are enough of an eyesore, without drawing attention to them!
Long grass on the tees and fairways and no bunker raking, indicate they just can't keep up the conditioning.
This place could be great with a little TLC. Apparently, the owner isn't concerned or they are about to fold up. (or so it seems)
One more "dig"....why wouldn't they at least be a bit friendlier to you, when you check in or get your cart? That doesn't cost anything!
On a positive note, the greens putted well and were in good condition.
I had not played here this year, because of so many bad experiences in the past. I thought we'd give it another chance - lesson learned! We will take our business to other courses, where we fee welcomed.
Average course
Course was moderately challenging and in decent shape.
This was the worst course I have played the entire year (I have played at least 10 courses this year in the Chicago land area)

Some issues here.
Great price. However, the rate of play was very slow for a mid week afternoon. No rangers on site to move things along. On a hot afternoon, water coolers on the course were mostly empty and there were no cart girls to be found. Overall, conditions seem to have deteriorated recently.
Dogpatch is the best way I can describe it.
Sorry but Carriage Greens was not close to being worth $39. When you look down at the fairway and see at minimum six different kinds of grass in a six foot x six foot square you know there's a problem. But an even bigger problem is the layout of the course, which is terrible.
I won't be back. End of story.
Carriage Green (the return of the golf cart)
Picked up the 5:54 tee time. Thought I had good value at 77% discount. Upon checkout of golf cart, I was told to return cart by
8 pm. To meet that deadline, I pretty much hurried along the course, skipping 4 long yardage holes.
Sure, $30 for 2 players was a deal. But, under those circumstances....a bad buy.
Great for the price.
The greens are extremely slow! As one player put it--these greens are like the fairways at really good courses. Hard to complain though when you pay less than $20.
OK, but always slow going
When you play Carriage Greens Golf Course, you know what you're in for.......nice course, slow round. Yesterday there were 6 Asian guys in front of us. They started out as 2-Threesomes, but eventually joined all together. I even called the golf shop to complain, yet no one came out to investigate. We played the front nine in 2 hours, perfect, but the back checked in at 2:45 after the 6 some all became one group.
Condition
Course was in good shape. Greens were a little long and slow for a Saturday. Sand was in good condition.
Not a good day
This was my first time playing here, so I don't know if this was typical or not. First, the course didn't appear to be overcrowded, yet it was still a 5-hour round. Grass was long on tees and fairways and ridiculously long on greens. Slowest greens I think I've ever played. No intermediate rough either. I don't know if funds for maintenance are lacking or if they lack the proper golf-knowledgeable personnel, but it just was not a pleasant day of golf (OK, every day of golf is pleasant, in relative terms), which is a shame because the bones appear to be there.
This course needs greens work
Greens were super slow. They need to shorten the grass on the greens and make them bigger and faster. The 11th green is the size of a postage stamp. If the greens where changed this would be a very good course for the money.
