course conditions were good except the greens either needed cutting or to be rolled very very slow pace to the greens
other than the slow greens course was in good shape playe in just over 3 hours pace was great
Nice course to build confidence.
The sand traps had soft sand and where nice to hit out of. Warm day with many golfers as twosome - needed to double up the groups to have a better flow. Enjoyed the experience and would golf there again.
The course has great features
The course was turned around really well after the flood. that area was hit pretty hard. The starters and pro shop team were very nice. The only complaint is that there are a few holes that the trees need to be pruned. The limbs hang over the middle of the fairways. I don't believe you should be penalized for hitting a good shot down the middle and it can hit a limb.
Great Value
While the course is not overly long, there are plenty of obstacles to make it challenging. I went out for a round a couple of days after a torrential rain storm and the course conditions were very good considering the circumstances.
Decent course layout but neglected.
Overall, this course has a decent layout with some challenging par 4's on the back 9. Woven into a subdivision, the course plays pretty tight. However, the course is in very rough shape. Granted there has been a significant amount of flooding in the area, which has something to do with this, but there is no consistency in the greens and the fairways and rough were overgrown and neglected. The personnel there were basically dressed in windpants and there was no starter on a Sunday morning. Even with a deal through GolfNow, I wouldn't go back.
The course was soaking wet with standing water and in very poor condition.
I cannot believe they are actually allowing people to golf the 18th hole.
Not Bad, Not Great
Typical early season conditions, very soggy. 18th in very rough shape. Also, while the bunkers had plenty of sand, it seemed that it was not the proper consistency. After leaving a wedge short on 15, I found the top of the ball buried 2 inches deep.
late in the season and still in great shape
the course is in very good shape for late in the season(Dec. 1st)
the course is groomed and ready to play. The greens are cut a little longer and may frustrate
golfers used to quick greens, however for this time in the season
they are cut correctly to insure good growth next year. I will play
this course again if this Dec 2012 weather continues in the 50's or
60's.
Great bargain golf course
I play Carriage Greens several times a year as it is 5 minutes from my house and can always get a tee time at a very reasonable price. Overall, the golf course is decent. Not very challenging but not super easy. There are 4 dog leg holes and the rest are fairly straight. Generous fairways and decent greens that are fairly flat. Good course to play a carefree game but not many demanding shots needed. Pace of play is usually slow. There are many novice and players that typically backs up play, even on off peak times. Course condition is pretty decent. Not many dried out areas and usually pretty soft. Greens are also decent and well kept.
I was a single player
and was able to play this course very quickly indeed. I agree with an earlier review that the Carriage Greens is actually challenging, but the course itself wasn't in good condition. In some parts of the course there was no difference between the fairways and the rough. The greens were in poor condition too. The bunkers and the quality of the sand were a pleasant surprise though.
Quality per Price is OK
The course need some maintenance but it is ok considering its price. The last hole (18th) need to be remodeled, though. The tee box is wet as well as its fairway mostly. They should get rid of that small lake or elevate the course a feet higher or do something.
Great lay out bad maintenance
I've played this course several times and it always has issues with the fairways. This time I couldn't see them. Because they were the same length as the rough, very tall. Course maintenance is always lacking here but you can play for under 25$ With a cart sometimes. Those times you may have a good value here.
Good Price for an moderate to beginner golfer
I golf about 2 times a week, try to play a different course each time. Ive played carriage about 20 times now this summer. Each time the staff is super friendly and approachable. The most important thing i believe. Second the course is in moderate condition considering it is a public course that gets a lot of play. There are houses on the side of a couple holes, yet don't seem to ever be in the danger of having to having to worry about hitting them with a shank. But do keep an eye out for other players, the fairways of some holes run close to others. Lets just say I've had a couple balls whiz past my head at carriage. Hope this review is helpful, and happy golfing.
Excellent course, price, play, and atmosphere
I have played this course 4 times in the last year, and I have never had a bad experience. The last time was on a HOT DEAL on GoflNow. I was looking for a Wednesday afternoon around 1PM and came across Carriage Greens @ $20.00 w/ cart. I instantly called my friend and asked him if he could make a 12:45 at Carriage Greens for 20.00 and he said, "I'll be there at 12:15 to chip and putt before hand!!" I have played from the Blues and Whites at CG and both are challenging and forgiving. I am not a scratch golfer by any means, or even close to a single digit. I could go out and shoot a 90 just as easily as i could go out and hack it up and shoot a 110. The layout of the course make it fun and difficult at times. Maybe a long par 4 that you can't take the big stick on because of the dog leg, so you have to hit a 7 off the tee. The par 3's are challenging as well....namely the 130 something yard over the ravine to a thin green surrounded by sand. All in all, to play this course, you have to place shots, bomb it on some holes and stick a green or two. But, there is also margin for error. Great course for anyone who wants to go out and swing the wrenches for fun, or wanting to work on every aspect of their game. Love this course!!!
nice course that is easy to navigate
good was in good condition considering the heat and lack of rain during the summer. Good course at a great value.
Slow Pace
This course played extremely slow. They didn't have a starter so we were behind from the start and no ranger to be found. Granted it was a holiday, was not prepared for a 6 hour round.
BAD. BAD. BAD.
We played on a Monday and had 946am tee time. We didn't tee off until around 1030am and the tee was so backed up. 9 holes took about 3.5 hours, it was insane. Then on the back 9 we were following a foursome that were so slow, they were drinking more than playing and had the beverage cart coming out into the middle of the fairway on the 16th and 17th holes to get beer. It was absolutely ridiculous, the beverage cart girl should know better and only serve on the tees or on the cart path. Lastly, the 18th hole is a short par 4 with the parking lot on the left and water on the right so you have to wait until the group in front of you is off the green before teeing off if you have a long drive. Stupid. Its too bad because it could be a nice course but 6+ hours for 18 holes is ridiculous.
