Worth the money, straight-forward course!
I have been wanting to play this course all summer and finally got over there on a recent Friday. Friendly staff and nice clubhouse/ bar area, but I was there to GOLF! Only complaint would be a the pace of play. We had a 4 some in front of us who was diddle daddling around. When we pulled up to the first tee 2 had hit, but something had happened and the last 2 were off somewhere and ended up coming back and tee-ing off about 10 minutes meanwhile we we're sitting there twiddling our thumbs. I wish we would've been able to go in front of this group because they were playing from the blue tee's when they could barely hit a ball 150 yards.
I liked the course conditions... fairways and greens were in great shape when we played. Lots of dog-legs with tall trees just challenging you to hit over them. My partner kept laying up and he didn't enjoy the course because he said it was too simple for him, but he's a lame.
Looking forward to playing it once or twice again before the season is over.
I didn't get to play the final 4 holes because the sun was going down.
Great Experience at Carriage Greens
I am not from the Chicago area but was pleasantly surprised at the value I found at Carriage Greens. The course is manicured very well, especially compared to the few I have played in my hometown this summer. Also, the Director of Golf was very helpful in seeing that our group was able to play by personally reserving us a couple sets of rental clubs even when it initially appeared that no rental clubs would be available due to heavy business.
Good value
This course was a great value. I booked a twilight deal on golfnow and was able to finish 18 holes. Upstairs had nice bar with huge menu. Course was in decent shape, greens were a little slow but very green and had no bare spots. Overall a great value for $20!!!
First time, would play again
Visiting from out of town and found on GolfNow. Course was in great shape and was worth every bit of the $20 we paid to play. Greens were pretty solid but didn't play as fast as expected. Yardage markers were fairly accurate on most holes but way off on a couple. Staff was friendly and helpful. We showed up as a twosome but were paired up with another twosome which can be bothersome for some people. Military, police and fire can play for $25 anytime during the week with a lunch at the turn.
Could be better
This is one of those Country Clubs open to the public. So you pretty much know how things are going to be before you tee it up. I had a hard time finding the pro shop. Staff was a little snobby. Course it not in the best shape. Greens were rolling nice tho. Very poor yardage markings. If I didn't have my range finder I would have struggled with distances. Overall, its worth a try if you get a deal. Oherwise, I'd probably pass on this one.

Great value for the money, I lake to play this course 2-3 times a year. would recommend playing week days Monday-Thursday mid-day not very busy and good price thur GolfNow.com
not playing fast enough
The course is great. But if you are novice player you play at a certain pace. My friend and I were teamed up with two older gentlemen and none of our games were perfect. We were told by one of your staff that we were killing the course because there were people behind us. My point is if you're rushed your game is worse. Maybe you should have only a certain skill level play at your course.
Great outing with the boys
I took my 3 boys to this course since none had played it before. Great day weather wise, course in great shape! If you are not always hitting straight, some fairways are intimidating because the houses seem really close. All 4 of enjoyed the course and will be back in the future.
Perfect Day
After the rains the course was wet. But in great shape !
Really Enjoyed The Course!
Played Carriage Greens recently and was pleasantly surprised to find the course in wonderful shape. In years past, the greens were overgrown and show. After this winter, I expected the worst and I could not have been more wrong. Each green was in fantastic shape, mowed, manicured, rolling fast and true. The fairways and rough rebounded from the winter because not once did I find a spot that would've been deemed ground under repair. Everytime I missed the fairway, I still had a decent lie and oppoortunity to find the green. We purchased our round through a Hot Deal on GolfNow.com and were able to play 18-holes with a cart for a fantastic rate. We also grabbed a turkey sandwich at the half way house at the turn. It was huge; both in size and taste. The staff were very pleasant in the pro shop and at the 1/2 way house. Even though our group was exceedingly slow (we were paired up with two guys who just took up the game) the rangers didn't bother or haunt us once--and they would've been well within their rights asking us to pick it. Overall, we had a great day and I look forward to returning to Carriage Greens again soon
Decent track
The course is reasonable given the discounted golf now price. For a solid golfer it's short even from the blue tees but has some interesting holes and very small greens with subtle breaks. The warm up green was horrible, much worse than the actual greens. The overall facility feels old fashioned. I would go back only on a weekend when all other rates are high.
This course has improving conditions!
The golf course has improved and it provides good value to the average golfer. The staff is helpful and courteous. The course management team is moving the business in the right direction.
very very congested
The rangers are friendly and tried to speed up the pace but it was badly congested and moving very very slow. We finally quite the game after 15th.
Carriage Greens a great place to play
Highly recommend this course. Great location and staff is super friendly!!!
Wet, wet and wet
I played the course after a heavy rain fall the day before, course was quite wet and ground was soft, some bunkers were flooded.
Otherwise, I do enjoyed the round. Staffs were very friendly and courteous. Good value for the money and easy access from I-55.
We played the front 9 in 1 1/2 hrs, however, when we get to the back nines, suddenly there were 2 gourps of 4-somes came out of no where and slow down our pace of play to 2.5 hrs.

Slo-mo / moon walk
First time players, don't expect anyone to tell you where the first hole is. The signage is lacking. (It's across the street.) When you do find the first hole, don't expect to tee off on time.
I have never seen a course pack so many in such a short window. They don't group singles and/or doubles.
The drainage here is poor to horrible on some holes. Plan to drive your ball to the green on 18. If you don't, you'll get to experience the "moon walk". The ground is so saturated that you feel as if you could fall through. (Bring a small shovel to digg or your ball. )
Lastly, this course does not do any favors for women players. The women's tees practically overlap the whites.

I am sorry to see your comments about Carriage Greens and I would like to invite you back to play again. Many of this issues you brought up have been resolved (but the 18th fairway is always wet because of the soil conditions) and I think your next experience may be different. In conjunction with the CDGA we have moved the red tees up on 9 holes making it more fun for those playing the forward tees. The response has been very positive. If you would like to come out again as my guest, please call me at 630-985-3730.

NIce Course no starter
Being it was the last day of the season and a decent day for golf, I think the course did a money grab and let whoever showed up to play. We waited 15 minutes per hole on the first 5 holes. The course did play well and greens fairways and tee boxes where in pretty nice shape. Sand traps were atrocious but only hit one of those. Will definitely keep this course on the radar for next season.
Were Still Booking
It took 1 and 1/2 hours to play the first three holes. After 3 holes we asked and received a rain check. It was 1:00 P.M. The manager took a call when we were in the club house and was asked if there were any openings at 2:00. He told them to come on in. At 1:00 there were 4 foursomes on the first tee box and at least 2 foursomes on every tee box waiting. They were only concerned about filling the register. By the way, it was the last day they were open.
The course needs a lot of work in the fairways. The fairways are very shaggy, and they would be considered the rough at any other course.
Despite the fairways being so lousy, I gave the course a rating of fair, which in my opinion is high. I gave it such a rating because of the price we paid to play the course--$14 a piece. The layout is fine, and the greens were decent. If they can improve the fairways, it would be more enjoyable to play. There were times where we had a hard time finding the ball in the middle of the fairway, because the grass was so high.

My name is Jim Sims and I am the Golf Director at Carriage Greens. I would like to apologize for the slow play you experienced last Wednesday but we were limited to cart path only since we had almost 3 inches of rain the evening before. I would like you to come back when conditions are better. Give me a call at 630-985-3730.
