Great course, great value
This is a great course, friendly staff, fun layout. Got a little back up, but not too bad for a weekend. Totally worth the drive from the fox valley area.
Average course
Everything is kind of dry. Some car paths are in real bad shape. Greens are pretty slow. I enjoy the course, but it’s nothing special.
Decent value
Checking in on mobile did not work at all so I had to check in manually in the pro shop. This process took at least 20 minutes as I tried to find my reservation and verify. There was quite a line of people trying to do the same thing and it took a very long time. It feels like they were very understaffed.
The fairways were very long and have not been cut In a while. Overall, I think the course was in subpar shape. I played there last year and thought it was much worse than before. Maybe this was just an off day?

River Heights Golf Course in DeKalb is a hidden gem! From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with warm smiles and genuine enthusiasm—true professionals who made every part of our day feel special.
The course itself is picture-perfect: lush fairways, immaculately kept greens, and just the right balance of challenge and beauty. Every hole offered something different yet equally delightful. The carts were clean, well-maintained, and zipped us around effortlessly, letting us focus fully on our swing and the sheer joy of the game.
And speaking of joy—Mother Nature must’ve been in a generous mood. The weather was downright sublime: gentle breeze, warm sun, and crystal‑blue skies that made every moment on the course feel like a breath of fresh adventure.
In short: River Heights delivers on all fronts—service, scenery, gear, and atmosphere. A day here feels like a gift to your mind, body, and spirit. Highly recommend!
On the rotation
Very good mix of challenge and opportunity. Well maintained with good greens, on our list of go to golf courses.
Second time at thus course
Course was in good condition, greens were obviously watered frequently, tee boxes were very hard to get tees in, fairways were in good condition as well.4&1/2 hours for pace of play on a beautiful Sunday. Started on hole 10, and waited a few minutes at almost every tee, but managed to finish in 4&1/2 hours for 18 holes. Would recommend thus course.
