River heights
Course is looking good
Lots of improvements going on so certain holes are rough
Really looking forward to how much nicer it will be with the work happening
Fun Local Course
Great for a nearby course with 18 holes. A little long to walk in my opinion, but nice variety. Also grass is nice and thick which means keep a close eye on your ball so you don't lose it.
Nice course
Out here for work and to be able to play an 18 for $22 including is fantastic! Greens may be very tricky for some higher handicap golfers, but they roll out pure and you can get a decent amount of spin on short irons and wedge shots. I’m a 5.5 handicap and enjoyed the difficulty it provides for all levels depending on tee box used! Recommend and will be returning before I leave here!
Best value for the money
Nice layout greens are always in good shape. Best value for the money in Chicagoland and only 20 minutes from the Orchard exit on 88
Worth A Visit
Cool day, so not many there. Walked 18 holes in under 3 hours. Course was in good condition, except greens had recently been plugged. Will return.
Great course
Not only is the course in the best condition, the young lady who manages that course is top notch. She interacts with each and every person that steps foot At the course. We sat out and had drinks on the deck. It was an absolute pleasure being there.
Great course
That's a great course to play need some irrigation. Clubhouse needs some work to be more friendly as in TVs. I think the trail pass is a little excessive as the courses carts aren't being used to be beaten up. Overall great course and very friendly people
Best best value in the Chicago area.
Course is usually in good shape especially the greens. Not a difficult course but definitely is fine for seniors and new golfers
A Good Municipal Course
Been playing this course for 3 years now. The course improves every year; they are working at making it a bit better each year. Greens are maintained and they keep the rough cut down. Relatively easy track, with a few challenges along the way. Pro shop is consistently friendly and attentive. Bar area is basically for take-out and the beer after playing.
They have Senior rates and the online reservations run true to the actual schedule.
I use it as a place to come with a buddy, stay loose and work on my game. Can't say anything about the pace of play on the weekends, cause I don't golf then. Weekday rounds can be as fast as 3+ hours if you catch a hole in the schedule.
Solid golf value, if you aren't looking for Cog Hill.
Tee Boxes Needed Work
When we played, the tee boxes looked like the rough. It was near impossible to get any comfortable spot where you weren't teeing it up super high just so you didn't hit any grass. Greens were good. Fairways were wet. The course isn't the greatest after rain, so it was wet.
Hidden gem
The property is very well maintained and I love the layout. The staff and the people here are very friendly
River Heights is the best valued course around.
I live in Yorkville and I drive 30 miles to play this course, because it has a fair layout and the rates are very reasonable.
Greens are the best part.
This is a woodland course with somewhat tight fairways that seem to be mostly rye and fescue. The greens are bent grass and generally in good shape and roll nicely. Most of the holes are 350/360 yd. par 4s many of which are doglegs. The T boxes are absurdly ill-kept. The course design is generally somewhat odd, e.g., back to back par 5s. Number 10 is a 230 yd. par 3 dogleg right around trees and a pond while a bunker sits on the left - perhaps the most ridiculously unfair hole design I have ever seen. At the turn, we found a 15 minute wait for a grilled hot dog and burger handled ungloved by the youngster behind the bar. Sand traps vary - some have weeds growing, others are clean and raked.
