Fun, straightforward, challenging
Well-maintained course that runs along the north shore channel. Despite the course being shorter in overall length, it can be tight, forcing you to be accurate. Great for improving your iron and woods play, with a few longer par 4s to pull out the driver. Always great playing here.
Great course, but the prices…
Peter Jans’ mission for a public course for the community is lost with driving up the prices post-renovation. The course is one of a kind, but I personally do not play here as often as I’d like due to the higher rates. I would think Canal Shores might do better business if they lower their rates and attract more customers.
Fast Round on Weekdays, too pricy
Worth it with hot deal if you're looking for a quick practice round. Pretty fun to play, as a single on weekays I can play through under an hour and 30 min. Way too expensive at regular price for 13 holes that are open, I'd just go to Chick Evans at that point for a longer course at a cheaper price.
Time will tell
Only 12 holes open as we played the first week course reopened. Last 6 holes will be completed for play in early summer next year. Fairway was a bit thin but adequate and will fill in with time. Greens were in great shape. Course has a few funky holes with unusual tree locations off the tee that offer strategic challenges. Worth the $25 we paid on a hot deal, but if dynamic pricing pushes price beyond $40 (without cart) I would give it a pass. Staff was friendly and enthusiastic but no food available on weekdays. Nice if they offered a hot dog or pre-prepared sandwiches.
Great new green complexes but a little more disclosure would be nice
When booking on GolfNow it denotes 18 holes. There are currently only 12 holes available for play. Had I known I most likely wouldn't have paid this price for 2/3rds of a round. Regardless, the staff was friendly and I enjoyed the course despite the heavy rain in the morning. Course drained well and the greens were in great shape for their early opening. I am excited to return next year when the full course is available.
Great vistas and golf
Amazing staff and even better golfing, would recommend to any golfer no matter the skill level. Will be back to golf soon.
Outstanding renovation. Can’t wait for full 18
The Evans at Canal Shores
Grand reopening was yesterday. Only 12 holes for now but such an awesome and super fun layout. May be the most fun layout I’ve ever played of 100+ courses.
They have a putting hole around 60 yards - great for betting.
Course is in amazing shape, especially the greens. Great redan, fun punch bowl, lots of cool golden age architecture touches.
Get out there ASAP while the course is still mint. Not a single pitch mark on the greens yet.
Only 5 holes
Only 5 holes were available today and everyone was repeating the same holes. This was not an enjoyable golf experience
Perfect neighborhood course to walk
First impression was phenomenal - we were immediately greeted by name and promptly handed a parking pass for our vehicle (to ensure it wasn’t forgotten, which I appreciated!). I’m sorry I forgot her name, but the woman working was welcoming and answered questions we didn’t know to ask. And glad we walked - it’s not very spread out and was an easy/flat course to walk.
The course is undergoing improvements, so hole order is a bit wonky but it makes total sense as you play. If I lived nearby, it’d be hard not to pop in for a quick 9 all the time. I’m a beginner golfer so I appreciated a manageable challenge.
Great Course in an Unbelievable Community
Canal shores is highly supported by the local community. Great programs surround Canal Shores, so if you haven't been, I highly recommend playing here or getting involved with them and the community.
VERY Excited to see the end results of the current restoration/renovation project
Canal Shores
Fun course but had four holes closed off for a undisclosed time. Good practice to call the golf shop before you book your times.
Temporarily shortened course
While I normally enjoy playing this course, it is currently under construction and as of 7/21/23 only had 11 holes open for play. A few weeks prior there were 14 holes open for play. The course hasn't been super forthcoming about how many holes are open. Pace of play can be extremely slow, especially when kids summer camp is in session.
