Stonewolf Golf Club
About
Stonewolf Golf Club is one of only four courses designed by Jack Nicklaus in Illinois and Missouri and it is also one of his only public access designs. Nicklaus created a shotmaker's layout with a variety of different holes. He also incorporated his signature style of bunkering, which you'll remember for their shape, design, and placement. This is not a golf course where you'll be able to just grip it and rip it. Thoughtful strategy and careful club selection off the tees are essential for doing well. Stonewolf Golf Club opens with a tough trio of holes, ending with a short par 4 that requires a forced carry to a severe green that features a tricky elevation change right in the middle of the surface. There is also a lateral hazard on the left, and five bunkers bordering the right side.

must play
great golf course .. has challenging holes and a variety of tight holes to generous landing spots.
Champion
One of the top 3 courses in the Metro East. No food available after play on a Spring day so had to go elsewhere.
Jacks Signature
Stonewolf has been getting in better and better condition in the last 2 years under their newer head pro Kerry. The grounds crew was working on reconstructing and shaping many of the bunkers and have recently airated the greens. The course with all of the recent rain should be fantastic this spring.
Very fun and challenging layout
A truly challenging course.
If you enjoy a challenging course for all levels of golfers, this course is for you. Plenty of sand in the right places, several narrow fairways, large grade changes, plenty of woods make ball placement a necessity. Have fun!
This course has a lot of Bunkers
Played this course quiet a few time still in could shape.
for being January
Must Play
woke up sunday morning to my phone ringing 6am, boss needed me to come into work on my day off. I had booked a noon tee time, went to the course expecting to be sent away. They guy behind the counter said he could get me out as i had to leave at noon. Was hoping to get a bucket of balls, but thought that might be a stretch and i would have to take the green fee i paid online as a loss. he even offered me a rain check for 9 but i said no thanks, best customer service i have ever had from a golf pro and I play 100 rounds a year.
First time playing, greens were in perfect condition for december, fairways were dormant but the lies were still great, i played rake and place in the bunkers b/c they were super wet, went out as a single and everyone let me play through, finished in under 3 hours. Even the lady at the tern was awesome.
If this course was in San francisco where I am from it would cost 200 to play and would be a 6 hour round on sunday. I am here for 6 months of work and will be back, if its this nice in December Its gotta be spectacular in the spring/summer/fall, cant wait to go back.
and thanks to pro for getting me out!
Good value
Stonewolf was fine for early November golf. GolfNow deal was to low to menation. Nice course but have played better layouts.
Great course
This is a great courser to play. It has carries off the tees and you need to make sure you hit it straight. Fairways and greens in great shape. Lots of rolling hills.
Nicklaus St. Louis must play
As always, management does a fantastic job of keeping the facilities, course conditions and custoner service superior and in the top tier of St. Louis golf courses. One of the nicest clubhouses around, and a terrific pro shop that seems to always have amazing sales and deals- so I keep on buying goodies. Always recommend to my golfing buddies, and at minimum I play the great Stonewolf at least 1 or 2 times per month. Always look forward to coming back to this gem.
Very nice course
The course is very nice with good greens and a challenging layout. It is a good but not great value for the money.
Once great course now in disrepair.
I played this course several years ago. The layout is awesome. The back nine is super tough. Very narrow with many trees many blind shots lots of elevation changes. Now the course seems old and tired. Many ball marks on the green beer cans right off the Teebox discarded in the rough. You can tell a lot of yahoos now play this course due to the value.
Slow play
Course let out 3 twosomes on a busy Sunday. Group ahead of us would not tee off until the group ahead of them was on the green. People complained to clubhouse but a marshall never came out to speed up the group. 4 hour 45 min round of golf is way to long
Stonewolf golf experience
The course is a Nicklaus design. The fairways have challenging and strategically placed bunkers and there are hidden hazards. The greens are challenging in size, are well protected and will test your green reading skills. The terrain is undulating with lots of elevation changes and greats vistas. The course and greens are well maintained. A great golf experience. Can't wait to tackle it the second time knowing the challenges!
Keep it up
Course has been good this year. The super added several fans to keep the greens in good shape. This course is in better shape now than Far Oaks. The greens are good and being taken care of. That seems to be a problem in our area where the greens are in horrible condition at other courses.
Great Layout
Course is one of my favorites in the area. Great design and makes you use every club in your back. Played on a Saturday afternoon, so I understand the course is going to be crowded, but it took us 5 1/2 hours and didn't see a ranger once. If you are putting that many groups out - you can afford a ranger to help with pace of play. Last comment - greens are true but very slow. Probably only rolling at 8-9 (fuzzy), a course with this great of layout needs to keep the greens up to match this great layout. This experience won't keep me from playing it again, but the greens and pace of play made for a very long day..
1 of the best in metro- St. Louis
Top tier golf experience in the greater St. Louis area. The only Nicklaus course in town, and the staff does a great job of keeping the entire course in top conditions. Clubhouse and proshop are among the nicest around.
