always a good time
My 3 brothers and I play here every memorial day morning and have great time the course is in great shape the greens are firm and fast and fair. Really only complaint I have is I wish there would be a couple more yardage markers.
Condensed and Repetitive
Honestly I had high expectations with this course having one of the top ratings in the Chicagoland area. The course was well kept, and yeah the staff and amenities were fine.
But, the most important thing is that the course is small. The holes are short. I believe there were 5 par 4's in a row on the back 9, all about 380 yards. Boring. Only 2 par 5's. I would not recommend this course to anyone who enjoys challenging or fun course layouts.
Exceeded expectations
Played my first round here yesterday after reading positive reviews of the renovation a couple years ago. Never had ever considered playin here previously. Really looks more like a standard country club layout/vibe/clubhouse than typical north shore muni. Fairways & greens in great shape with consistent rough. I played as a single and they were very accommodating, linked up with a good group of older regulars. Played quick round because It started raining so had course to myself. Decent challenge with mix of holes but quite a few short ones where 5 wood off the tee Is sufficient. Definitely will be back. Staff was great.
Beautiful and narrow
The course has a club feel, but open to the public. Its a short drive from the city too.
The course conditions are great and its well maintained. We finished our round in just over 4 hours so its average, but we found ourselves waiting on several occasions for a bit.
If you have a walking bag, bring it! I'm new to the area learning which courses even allow walking. As I drove around, I noticed I was one of only a few in a cart. I wish I'd have known.
Very tight course and well guarded. I'll be back after some lessons and practice.
Great course
Played for the first time at Glenview Park GC. Its a beautiful course, very well maintained. The greens were excellent. The only con is that there is no driving range.
Nice Course layout and in decent shape for April
The front nine holes 3,4,5 will challenge just about any golfer to make par on these long par 4s. The par 3s 9 & 10 also can be challenging. Everyone is treated to a couple of scoring chances to finish your round on 17 & 18.
Nice Renovation
Course was renovated a few years ago. It's in great shape so early in the year. Highlight is a challenging par 5 on the front 9 with water all down the right side. Lots of fun holes. A real pleasure!
I try to play a new course early each year to see if it is worthy of returning to with my regular foursome.
Luckily for me, this was opening day here.
I couldn't be happier about the way that I was met and greeted by the staff, the layout and makeup of the course as well as the early season condition that it was in.
Highly recommended, and I will certainly return with my guys, who in return will certainly want to revisit as well.
LA
Glenview Park Golf Course- Great After New Upgrades
Let me preface with this: I grew up playing summer youth golf at Glenview Park Golf Club. I have a lot of good memories from playing this course and when my future brother in-law asked me to play here I had to laugh because many years ago, GPGC was known for being a so-so public course- torn up greens, terrible bunkers, and spotty fairways. I agreed to play for the nostalgia, if anything else.
But I learned quickly GPGC had a recent major course renovation and I have to say it was such a joy to play. To see a course transformed and much improved but still keep the same feel and shots that I remember as a kid was a wonderful feeling. The fairways and greens were in good shape and rolled true, trees were removed and the course felt more open and appealing. The best part was GPGC still remains an affordable option, and you get your money’s worth here if you find a good GolfNow deal. So glad to play this course again; I’ll definitely be coming back, and not just for nostalgia.
GPD still in great shape in mid November
Course in excellent shape all year and still in mid November with watered fairways and greens. Bunkers in great shape as well and greens were running fast which was surprising. Clubhouse, patio and bar are also terrific. Great place to play and the staff is wonderful. Wish it had a driving range, but no room for one. Great place to play for all level of golfers.
Glenview Park Golf Course
I'm a 12 handicap and this is a good challenge and you will hit all 14 clubs on this renewed gem. Pace of play could be better as well as divot and ball mark repairs. Otherwise its a nice local course.
Glenview Golf Course
The course was in great shape. The greens were super fast. Played it on a Friday afternoon in 4:15. Some long par fours make in challenging. Margaret
Good Redesign; Conditions are little dicey
The redesign is very good. Bunkers well placed, strategic and challenging yet fair. Lots of mature trees lining most fairways. Deceptively challenging for a course only 6,100 yards. The course obviously gets a lot of play from newbies who don't understand the importance of fixing ball marks on greens. Several tee boxes were chewed up and the greens staff filled the divots with black mulch versus the green sand mix provided in each cart. Perhaps there is a reason for it but I found it annoying to remove wood chips. Clubhouse is very nice. Great patio, restaurant and bar. Food was very good.
Course Scheduling
We were to play 18 holes. We kept up pace with the group in front of us. Several times we were told that we were falling behind which was not due to our play. I thought that the course was good and that is not the problem.
At the turn, we went in for something to eat (about 10 minutes). When we went to continue play, we were told that we would not be allowed to continue because we spent too much time between 9 & 10 holes and the course was having an outing.
While I can understand the advantages of getting an outing scheduled, I thought that the way it was handled was very unprofessional ant that I was totally at fault for the situation.
Nice little course.
Kind of short but in great shape.
Excellent Makeover
What used to be the Weed is now Blossoming into a fine local muni. It's not long, but it's not a cakewalk either. The greens are terrific as are the general course conditions. The pace of play is as expected for a muni.
Resident rate is excellent, the staff is friendly, and the food and bev are above average. The only ding is the lack of driving range, so be ready to putt and go!
My new favorite
Only complaint is that's a little short and a little tight. Can't really hot driver on this course. Besides that, everything was spectacular. Great sand, great views, great greens, conditions etc. will definitely play again.
Great condition - many fairway bunkers make tee shots very important
Have not been to the GPD since the renovation and what a surprise. The course was in excellent condition and was very green. The new addition of some strategically placed bunkers make some of the tee shots on the par 4's very important. Par 3's very challenging with many at 200yds from the tips. Great pace of play. Very impressed - will be back
