Not bad for November 7th
Fairways were in really good shape.
Heavy rains prior week left as few bunkers in less than ideal conditions.
Greens had been aerated and were a mixed bag of very bumpy to little bumps.
Really like the layout of this course,
All in all considering the time of year , pretty darn good.
Late in the year review
Walking up to the tee box.. there were no tee markers so you guess where the tee box is. Greens were aerated a month ago supposedly but greens looked like they did it last week or two weeks ago. Course was a little wet but not too bad and only a couple holes had a lot of leaves on the ground. Carts had to be in by 4pm but it’s still light outside till 4:30 so we finished our round at 4:30 and there wasn’t an issue. Glad I only paid 25. Good bang for your buck here
The pace of play is pitiful. When one has to wait to hit
a shot on each and every shot it tales a lot of fun, and creates a lot of frustration. Charge a little more and hire a full time ranger to move some of the old flops along at a respectable pace.
Course in poor condition
Looks like the course have some critters problem cause the tee boxes are torn up as well as the fairways. Fairways pretty bumpy. Very disappointed, this course was one of our favorite golf courses. Hope they can fix the problem.
Extremely wet course
Was not aware till my arrival that there would be no carts available although my wife did text me that the course had attempted to notify me at our home phone. Walked the course using their pull carts of which we got the last two although there were only a handful of other golfers
Wettest course ever
I had forgotten that this course is a swamp after any amount of regular rain. This course is best played during mid summer or a drought.
Really enjoy playing here
Always a fun round here. The course could use a little TLC. Tee boxes have seen better days and the fairways are starving for water. Overall this course is always a good time and a great value.
B-
I’m giving this course a B- for a rating. Good layout but the condition isn’t great. Greens are small and need to be worked on. Don’t think I’d make the drive from the city to play again. Worth it if you’re in the area for the price alone.
PS: the pace of play was so bad and I had a 7:10am tee off! Twosome after twosome in front of me.
Good Value
Veterans Memorial is a pretty solid course, with potential.to be really good if the greens and tee boxes were better taken care of. Great layout and fast greens. The cart girl is suoer friendly, and the pace of play is good. I enjoy playing here, and i will be back..especially if a Hot Deal for $35 with cart pops up again.
Great course layout, some condition issues
I have always loved the layout of this course. Unfortunately some of the greens, particularly on the front 9, are not in the best shape.
Still a fun course with plenty of challenges.
This is an excellent club
I played Veterans memorial quite often. Is a very good, well mantain and reasonably priced golf course. Jim (who is the person in charge in the mornings) always takes care of the players and get certain that they can go out and have fun. Bunkers are really good, and so are the greens. Some of them are quite challenging, but hey, that's the nature of the game. A lot of veterans play there so, I get to say thank you for your service, quite often. Keep the good work guys!
