9th hole cart path fairway Photo submitted by HOTSPOTTS on 05/09/2018
!st Time Review
Drainage is poor, some areas are marshy. The course needs work. Signage and yard markers were poor. Cart paths were rough. The staff was great and most helpful.
Denny
They’re pouring a lot of money into this course
I’ve played this course for years. Finally the greens are fast
This will be a premiere course in the next few years
Nice golf course with views.
Golf course has more terrain than many others in the area, most of them are flatter. The greens and tees were in good shape, but fairways are dry and there is a crew putting in a new irrigation system. That will be nice when they can water fairways all the time and keep them in better shape.
I enjoyed the holes, as some are tough to drive, and shots into the greens can be tough, as some greens are small and some have a good slope on them.I'm glad to see the maintenance crew out there, as they are doing many improvements to the course and landscaping.
Easy Course, Bad Conditions
Perhaps it was just bad timing for me, but this course was in horrible shape. Construction was everywhere and workers on at least half the holes, fair way was patchy with lots of dirt, tee boxes were overgrown, and the greens were soaked despite there being no rain. The course itself was very easy and there weren’t really holes that were interesting or creative.
Cart paths and fairways were very bumpy with lots of obstructions such as big bumps or big construction holes in the ground.
This course is making a major comeback!
Hickory Hills has been around for a long time. At present, this course is making major improvements while keeping the old school feeling. Huge Cudos to the management and the great staff. I haven’t had a bad experience all season long.
Thank you Hickory Hills!!
Irrigation System will enhance thus course
This course was quite dry so anything hitting the green would roll off. Had to play the approach shot 10-15 yards short of the green if you wanted to stay on the green. They are just about done installing a irrigation system which will help this course. It still was a good play for the $$
Great Course with brilliant greens.
Brilliant greens, and fairways are getting fixed with irrigation to make this course top notch. I would say that if you have played here in the past and didn’t think the course was good, try it again. The irrigation trench line through the fairways were almost gone. The course is very hilly, hence the name Hickory Hills. Challenging course with long par-4’s and 5’s. Par 3’s are some of divine placements. The Tee’s were at the front of the greens for our play, so that was really challenging. I highly recommend this course for good casual play one which probably will mesmerize with the fall foliage here soon.
Kudos to ground staff for making a tough land geography evolve into an awesome course.
Dry course
Fairways where really dry and a lot of maintenance was going on. The greens where great, soft feel and good roll.
If trump married Liberace and had a child it would lol like the clubhouse. No driving range. No golf balls for purchase in pro shop. No dress code.
Garbage
What a terrible course. The layout is just a mess. Impossible to find the next tee. Fairways have absolutely zero upkeep along with the greens. Tee boxes are a mess. You could not pay me to play here ever again
Good if You Like Coors Light
Great value, even greater starter, course is under repair a bit but for the price point we appreciated it. Hot dogs at the turn we’re solid, as we’re the coors lights*tap the rockies*. If you’re debating I say go for it.
Sad
Course condition was extremely poor. Fairways with bare areas and greens that were burnt out, some areas were unplayable and we had to move the ball to putt.
We had a storm coming in and the course does not have a warning system in place for golfers. We could hear thunder and proceeded to drive back to the clubhouse passing other golfers still playing not knowing what was about to hit(a violent rain storm with lightning.
Promising
Course is going to be looking great in the upcoming years. They have began working on inserting sprinkler systems throughout the entire course. Haven’t played here in years bc of course conditions until now. Forgot that there are no bunkers and one little pond really not coming into play. Will definitely be coming back glad to see the course being brought back to life. Hats off to Hickory Hills!
