The change in the last 5 months is incredible! Several greens that were unputtable are much better. Greens are rolling great, tees are being groomed and fairways and rough are cut regularly. The addition of a new irrigation system will do wonders for the entire course but especially the fairways. Kudos to the new superintendent!!

Greens are unbelievably fast compared to last 17 years i been playing there. Definitely well worth the money. Course has good layout. Only downfall is no fairway or bunkers around the greens. Change has come and for the better.

I like playing this course because I like shooting into valleys

Like a time warp back 80 years, beautifully kept this cold autumn day. Greens were lightning fast, friendly fairways. Could benefit from a couple more options at the halfway house, but super smart placement. Starter is cracking jokes whenever possible. Solid round, good place to boost confidence

It's been almost 40 years since I have played Hickory Hills. It's been a while in an understatement. I have read some awful reviews about this course over the years. Recently a friend told me that they played it and it wasn;t bad, so I gave it a shot. Overall it was a very pleasant experience, great staff, short ( 6000 yards form the tips) but the greens were in great shape and the tee boxes were pretty good. Accuracy off of the tee box is key, lots of trees, a hilly course for Illinois and some of the greens can have a lot of slope. All in all a fun day, and I will play it again.

Hickory used to have terrible fairways and greens. Greens have much improved and fairways do look better but still have a ways to go. You can tell a difference from 3 years ago last time I was here. They also have brand new carts. You can tell they are trying, heard they have a new grounds crew. Some construction on some holes. Will try to make it back again this year. Excited to see what they do next year.

There are some very fun downhill shots, it is a cool looking course. I am a beginner so normally I don't notice the condition of the courses a ton, but the fairway is like rough that is grown on top of a rock. So on the bright side, if you top the ball, it will roll for miles. Overall fairly fun unless you're nitpicky about conditions.

Hills! Hills! Hills! When 90% of the local courses are flat as a pancake, HH is an interesting challenge. Just wish that all the fairways were as well kept as the greens.

Drainage is poor, some areas are marshy. The course needs work. Signage and yard markers were poor. Cart paths were rough. The staff was great and most helpful.

Golf course has more terrain than many others in the area, most of them are flatter. The greens and tees were in good shape, but fairways are dry and there is a crew putting in a new irrigation system. That will be nice when they can water fairways all the time and keep them in better shape.

I enjoyed the holes, as some are tough to drive, and shots into the greens can be tough, as some greens are small and some have a good slope on them.I'm glad to see the maintenance crew out there, as they are doing many improvements to the course and landscaping.

Perhaps it was just bad timing for me, but this course was in horrible shape. Construction was everywhere and workers on at least half the holes, fair way was patchy with lots of dirt, tee boxes were overgrown, and the greens were soaked despite there being no rain. The course itself was very easy and there weren’t really holes that were interesting or creative.

Cart paths and fairways were very bumpy with lots of obstructions such as big bumps or big construction holes in the ground.

Hickory Hills has been around for a long time. At present, this course is making major improvements while keeping the old school feeling. Huge Cudos to the management and the great staff. I haven’t had a bad experience all season long.

This course was quite dry so anything hitting the green would roll off. Had to play the approach shot 10-15 yards short of the green if you wanted to stay on the green. They are just about done installing a irrigation system which will help this course. It still was a good play for the $$
