Very tough holes for a 9-hole course. Rates with the toughest in the area.
Course layout
My friends and I really had a good time at the club, the greens were well kept, it was the first time they played the course now they want to make it one of their regular courses.
A Nice Walk on a fair course
I'm with the last guy....snuck a six pack in my bag and walked nine on a Saturday afternoon. I was squeezed between a couple twosomes but enjoyed my nine holes. And for $22 for an out -of-towner, it was a great deal. The course itself has a few teeth here and there. Keep the ball in play is key...a fair amount of woods and fescue/marsh to eat up wayward hits.
I was visiting a friend nearby and know that the area is pretty wealthy...to find a weekend nine for $22 ($37 for 18) on a great walking course with an interesting enough layout and great conditions...what's not to like. Yeah, it's probably slow most times in the morning and there are a lot of guys who don't seem to know a lot about golf around, but whatever.. Ditch the cart, grab a few, and go for a nice walk.
Sneak a 12 pack on
If you have any plans that would be affected by your round going long, do NOT book a tee time here. If you care about your score and hate standing on a tee box or in the middle of the fairway for a handful of minutes each hole, do NOT play here. There is a starter but the 10+ times I have played here I have yet to tee off on time. I'm sure you're wondering why would I have played here 10+ times based on how this review is going. My answer to that is I live 7 minutes from the course and have only played here when it has been 13 dollars or less on golfnow. As for the course layout it isn't bad by any means. Each hole offers something different and you get a chance to use every club in your bag. The course condition on the other hand is a different story. The starter should be forced to remind everyone to repair their ball marks on the greens because I'm not sure if anyone does. I think the maintenance crew believes that if they just rake the sand around every morning it'll fool us golfers into thinking they actually take care of it. Staff is awesome, very nice. The only problem I've ever had with the staff is when I showed up a few minutes late and the gentleman in the pro shop was giving me a hard time, only for me to walk up to the first tee and sit in line behind 6 other carts full of golfers waiting to tee off. The main reason I made this review is because of the pace of play. Best way I can describe it is I just made my Golfadvior account, wrote this review and I'm only on the 3rd hole. Which is why I say, make sure you sneak on a 12 pack of cold ones. Lotta time to drink! Cheers
Always a great time with great staff and restaurant.
Not beginner friendly
Me and my buddy just wanted to play a relaxing round of golf. We're pretty decent but not really good yet. The second we got on the course we were rushed. The entire round was ruined due to the fact we couldn't take our time and enjoy ourselves
Great challenging 9 holer
Good inexpensive challenging 9 hole course. Service on the course and restaurant are terrific. Course conditions are okay, but expecting too much for the price.
Perfect weather, perfect price/value, perfect golf course personnel and perfect golf course conditions.
Nice Going Boys!
Pretty slick stuff, my friends!
Keep up the good
great time
The course is in great shape… The deal was excellent… Not aerated so the greens are true. Always have a great time playing this course.
River Bend One of the Best 9 hole courses in the Burbs
Very Friendly Staff- Pro Shop, Starters, Waitresses
Great value for both golf and food
Quick 9hole
You have to plan playing 7th hole good 200yard 3wood should do it or loose the ball
Hidden Gem
Probably overshadowed by the nearby Seven Bridges, this course was a nice surprise for a 1st time play after living in the area for a number of years now. I have always backed-off playing here because it was always $20 on GolfNow with no wavering on the price however it was worth the price (w/cart). Generous fairways, no real forced carries but their bunkers did need some attending to. Other than that, I would come back here. Tough play first time around, not knowing green layouts or what you cannot see but I will play better next time knowing what lies ahead my 2nd time out there. Starter was a little cold but other than that...enjoyable round.
9 Hole Course at a 18 hole pace.
I teed off on a Saturday around 4:45pm, so it wasn't a peak time. The pace of place was absolutely horrible. Waiting on every single shot, up to 10 minutes in the fairway and 15min on the tee. The course was not in great shape. The fairway grass was far too long and the tee boxes were really beat up. I think I paid $28 for 9 holes and a cart, which isn't horrible, but considering the pace and condition, I definitely won't be back.
Great course.
For the price I would say this is the nicest 9 hole course around.
River Bend Golf Course
Always enjoy playing this course. Challenging, but more fun than not.
Expensive Course, Unimpressive Experience
The "hot deal" for this course was $25 for 9 holes, which is a little higher than other last minute tee time deals, especially for 9. The course was not well groomed at all and the rough was slightly out of control. Pace of the round was extremely slow, but that was due to a slow foursome ahead of us. Overall, not the best course, but it wasn't so bad that I wouldn't play it again if a deal was there.
Really nice 9 holes
Played this course back to back because of a hot deal needing to buy two rounds. The course can play very difficult if you are not good with your driver. Fairways are pretty tight and the sand trap placement sits right about 265 from the back tees and 240 from the white tees. There are several holes when you want to leave the driver in the bag and use an iron or hybrid off the tee. The course gives you a lot of good scoring opportunities if you find the fairway will really punish a dubbed shot. Overall, a really beautiful course that will present a real challenge to even a skilled player.
