Prairie Bluff Public Golf Club
About
Prairie Bluff Golf Course in Lockport stretches across 237 acres of gently rolling hills covered with native prairie grass. The course has a links-style layout that can play much tougher depending on the wind speed that day. Overall though, the course is player friendly enough for any skill level. The layout is open with few trees and the fairways are wide and forgiving, taking away some of the intimidation provided by the bordering rough. There is also water on the golf course, but the hazards that come into play aren't overly strenuous. You can still expect some challenges from the minimal but strategically placed bunkering. Besides the golf course, Prairie Bluff is known as one of the area's hidden gems for its outstanding restaurant, which is known especially for the barbecue brisket.

Reviews
Not worth the the money
Course was in rough shape. Especially the greens. Wont come back even for 1/2 the price.
The course layout is excellent
The course layout is excellent, not too difficult neither very easy. Well maintained fair ways and the greens. Staff is very courteous and helpful. The green fee with Golfnow is unbeatable. We have been playing on this course and enjoyed every time.
great course for amateurs
Great course for the money. Good for all levels of players. Would play again in the future.
Great course for the money
Course in great condition and great value for the cost . Open fairways and tough bunker locations. Definitely playing there again
Good Muni Course
Greens could have been in better shape. Fairways and tee boxes were good.
Sundaay Round
Very nice course. Wide open, but if you miss the fairway on some holes, the ball is lost forever in the prairie grass. The greens were very bumpy. The first nine was worse, or maybe we just got use to it by the back nine. Tee boxes were good, fairway was good, just an issue with the greens. (Pretty important part of golf however)
Would play there again. Great staff in clubhouse.
nice place to spend the afternoon
A good course for all levels of golfers. Enjoyable layout can be very windy!
This course has lousy greens
I have played at Prairie Bluffs numerous times. Most of the time the greens are slow AND do not break because of this. Currently, however, I am disappointed to see that the greens have not recovered from the winter. They are in horrible shape. There are alot of bare areas, and it appears as though they have lost a lot of the grass. The other courses in the area have recovered from the rough winter, but it appears the greens keeper at The Bluffs has no clue as to how to repair the greens. The fairways and hazards are in great shape despite the greens. It is definately not worth the money to play there.
Nice course that could use some work on greens
The course is in overall good shape. However, the greens were quite choppy with a few bare spots. As the name implies, it is a prairie style course with very few trees, so a windy day will certainly play havoc with the ball.
Prairie Bluff is a fun course with an interesting layout but very few challenges. The particular day I played, the course had very difficult pin placement, which made it more challenging. I would certainly recommend Prairie Bluff to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing game, but if you are more skilled looking for a challenge, this course is not for you.
I did enjoy the 19th green. It had an updated bar with tv's and a nice patio to enjoy a few beverages after your round.
Players could do a better job at golf etiquette.
Players driving too close to the green, not fixing ball marks. Course is nice, challenging in the wind. Greens beat up. Sand good. Would play it again.
Greens in bad shape
The course was great, but the greens were in horrible shape. Several putts were sent going different directions because of the dirt patches all over the greens. Played there since they opened and have never seen them so bad.
Great course. Greens a little rough
Always a nice course and facility, greens are in rough shape this year. I'm sure they will fix it
Nice Enough
The course was windy, wide open, not much around. Nice wide Fairways in good shape, grass cut properly, not too long. Greens are sub-par, need quite a bit of repair work. No refreshment cart seen all afternoon. Clubhouse, Food, and Staff are very good. There was a large and obnoxious group of old geezer guys who looked like regulars sitting out on the patio outside the bar, making sarcastic remarks at customer/golfers walking by, Not Appreciated. Course is overpriced but convenient so I will probably go back once in awhile. There is room for some improvement here.
save your money
85 degree day golf course ran out of water on par 3s and cart girl had no water.Dont think a single person fixed a ball mark on the greens. Greens were in poor condition brown spots every where not a good value for the $$. Will be scratching this course off the list
Wonderful hidden gem in will county!
This course is in excellent condition. It is well-maintained and managed. A wonderfully friendly course for the beginner and intermediate player. Still can be a challenge for advanced players.
A real gem of a course in will county!
Nice links course
Other than a few spots under repair around the greens, the course is in very nice shape. The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent
greens in bad shape
Looks like winter has taken it's toll on the greens. very bad shape. this course is usually in great shape. Hope they get it back. Rest of course is better, though we had to play cart path only due to rains.
Greens need help
Overall fairway and rough condition was very good, however, the green are in need of work. They are full of ball marks that haven't grown back.
Windy
Very nice course. Open links style. Quite a few bunkers, all of which in good shape. Tees/Fairways pristine. Greens were a little rough in some areas, but its been a bad winter. Pace of play was good. I would recommend not playing this course when the forecast is for windy conditions, as there is literally nothing for miles to slow it down. Otherwise, a good experience, and I will return.
Prairie Bluff -overall good shape
course in good shape for this time of year greens not to good yet as some strains of the grass is still dormant . OK for this time of yerar and after the winter we had .
