Prairie Bluff Public Golf Club
About
Prairie Bluff Golf Course in Lockport stretches across 237 acres of gently rolling hills covered with native prairie grass. The course has a links-style layout that can play much tougher depending on the wind speed that day. Overall though, the course is player friendly enough for any skill level. The layout is open with few trees and the fairways are wide and forgiving, taking away some of the intimidation provided by the bordering rough. There is also water on the golf course, but the hazards that come into play aren't overly strenuous. You can still expect some challenges from the minimal but strategically placed bunkering. Besides the golf course, Prairie Bluff is known as one of the area's hidden gems for its outstanding restaurant, which is known especially for the barbecue brisket.

Great Value
Very nice course. Links style. Course is always in very good condition. Somewhat difficult when windy.
Very good bang for the buck.
Tree free works for me.
Prairie Bluffs is always kept in excellent condition. Having a shot stop on the greens instead of bouncing off helps the illusion that I'm on the Tour and not just whacking balls around a field.
Beautiful Layout
The Ruff is a little to lone Other wise Great Course
Nice course
Great track for the money!
Fun course and challenging
Great golf course in excellent condition that provides a challenge for all level of players. Pick the right tees and have fun pick the wrong tees and you will wish you stayed home.
This course is in great condition, greens roll very true and will reward a good approach.
The staff was very friendly from pro shop, starter, ranger and restaurant. This is always a pleasure to play and keep it in my rotation through out the year!
VERY UNDERRATED
This course I always drove by and just thought its this flat wide open course... Wow was I wrong this course is amazing. Everything was perfect! true greens perfectly flat tee boxes. every trap was consistent. Very impressed! what a sleeper.

Praire Bluff GC
Good choice for a Fall round. Very little leaves. I enjoyed!!!
Nice Course, but........
I have played here a number of times and really enjoy the course. Challenging holes and fairly long from the blue tees. The only gripe I have would be the on course rangers. They need to get a clue, we can only go as fast as the group ahead of us!!! Our last round reflected such ignorance. A ranger came up to us on the 14 hole and said to pick it up a bit due to things backing up behind us. Funny, we were on top of the group in front of us..hum???? The group behind us was a two-some...I guess they felt we were playing slow....funny two-some versus four-some...GENIUS!!!
A nice change of pace
Windy day, but a pleasant fall Sunday. Course was in overall good condition, the fact that they aerated the fairways kept me from saying excellent. Greens hard to read but run faster than Cog Hill. Will play again.
Really well maintained
Play this course for the first and i love it. Its a little expensive especially for it being part of the park district but overall a very nice place. The course itself is really fun. A lot of dog legs, obstacles, etc not for the beginner. quite a bit of wind too since you're out in the open so most of the time you have to account for the wind. Greens were rolling very true.
My only concern was that it was a hot day and I only saw the drink cart once through out the entire round. I'm not going to hold it against them. I'd still recommend this course
nice but pricey for a park district
Good maintenance and greens rolled well. Just a little pricey for a park district in my opinion. I take advantage of the afternoon tee times when the price goes down ($41 after 2 pm.)
Love this course
Well manicured.
Nice greens
Excellent Fairways
Played 18 holes in less than 3 hours
Nice fairways
Course has always been in decent shape until a few years ago when the winter ruined several greens on the front nine. This years weather has finally assisted the grounds crew and the greens are now finally fully recovered.
This course is poorly managed
This is a nice course with great facilities, unfortunately the pace of play was unbelievable we walked of @ the 14th whole 5 hours into our round! The rangers are just clueless old men looking for free golf , this was always a must play for us each year will have to rethink that next time it pops up on GN
This course is in great shape
I enjoy playing this course. The course is in great shape. The pace of play was great, the rangers kept everything moving smooth. The staff was very friendly
Had a great time
Had a great time and was paired up with 2 female very good golfers. Course was not busy on the holiday weekend. The food very was good. the course is always in good shape and the greens were in good condition and played true. Staff was friendly and the chipping and sand bunkers practice areas are top notch. Played for $27 using Golfnow on a Sunday. I will go back and play this many more times in the future. Most of the time there's windy conditons.
