Excellent Customer Service and the course is absolutely tough and awesome!!
First timer
I’ve driven by this course multiple times and said one day I’m gonna play this course. When I finally did I was a little disappointed. The fairways had so many weeds in it and very little grass, the rough the same. The big thing that disturbed me the most was I couldn’t find any yardage markers in the fairway, my GPS pinfinder didn’t work. I honestly don’t know if I ever come back to big run golf course. I played a lot of golf and played in a lot of tournaments in my life and I’ve never seen a golf course with such a reputation with all these weeds in the fairways, the rough and around the bunkers. I would give my experience a three star at five! 2 handicapper

Hidden Gem! This course is as tough and long as they come!
Big Run big challenge
The course has great elevation changes. Par 5are monsters. The greens could be a little faster(couldn’t tell the last time they were cut). The cups didn’t look like they were changed in a few days. Overall a great course to play. Challenging course fun to play would highly recommend this course. Will be back.
I will always recommend and defend this course
I've been playing Big Run since 1979. Scroll through and read my numerous reviews below. Big Run is a gem. People come from the city and complain about green speeds. They don't realize that if the greens were any faster they'd 3 putt more than half of them....and then they'd complain even more. No practice facility? Hit some in the nets to warm up you spoiled child. Sure it's rough around the edges in places with some issues. It has an aged sprinkler system and course conditions change from year to year.....that's the BEAUTY of Big Run. It's been in pretty good shape this season...more so than last floggers. Pace of play issues...you're playing at wrong time of day and remember most people can't handle the white tees let alone the back orange tees here anyway (even you...you spoiled child). I recommend the green tees.....still a 133 SLOPE!! From the greens all four of the Par 5's become fun versus double bogey plus slogs for most. Enjoy the spectacular layout & excellent challenges for 5 hours.....the best public old school clubhouse/bar/locker room with showers and now patio area with TV to quench your thirst post round. 4 stars every time I tee it up at Big Bad Run. Quit your complaining about this place it's ridiculous. Course may not be around much longer.....and guess what? You'll be the first one to say.....wow I miss Big Run.....they just don't make em like that anymore.......
Awesome design and layout
This is a well designed course with lots of elevation changes, that present lots of different shots that usually in this area.
It is not designed for walkers, so if you decide to hoof it, be prepared. Lots of hills to climb and climb back down, lastly being the 18th.
Great potential but falls short.
Haven't played course in a decade. Only difference now are more dead, dying and potentially hazardous tall oak trees that should be cut down. Some dead trees are right over tee boxes like hole tens back tee box. Dead branches were on the tee box. The greens were slow and spongy probably due to previous nights rain, pretty much the first significant rainfall this year, but my guess is that they could never be hard and fast without some work.. Balls seemed to disappear in the rough even though it wasn't tall grass. And when you did find your ball it most likely wasn't yours, because this course like many courses have scrambles on the weekend which slows everybody down to a 5+ hour round by golfers who are more interested in drinking than golfing. This course layout is great, with hills, trees, and distance being about 7000 yards from the tips. If it wasn't for the Golf Now "hot deal" we wouldn't have played it. Only reason I'm recommending this course is due to the layout but that's it.Too bad.
Course conditions
Fairways were terrible… Nothing but the dandelions and weeds… Landscape crew was more concerned about getting rakes in the sand traps then grooming the course… Doubt if I’ll play there again
This course is very difficult and not enjoyable. Don't play 18 your first time, you will be frustrated, play 9.
My neighbor recommended this as a great place to play. This course is long, hilly and difficult. If you are not used to playing on hilly courses. This course will be very difficult. If you don't have pinpoint accuracy on your drives you will lose your balls. This was a very long and hot day for us. If you have walking issues? We walked 5.5 miles with carts over 18 holes, mostly looking for our balls in the rough.
My advice, if you want the mountain experience, Play 9 holes at this course. You will get the taste of playing on a hilly course, see the incredible hole locations and not leave exhausted.
