Big Fun
Course was in excellent condition, even though it rained the night before. would play and recommend this course. Great Track !
Big Run BIG Value
I took advantage of a Golf Now Hot Deal and it was well worth it.
Beautiful holes well maintained though greens are slower than what I am used to.
Average Round
In all fairness there is nothing wrong with this course other than their dirt bunkers. As usual staff friendliness is dependent on what you pay. We scored a hot deal so upon checking in we were given a cart key and told to have a nice day. Not rude but no hospitality at all for two people that have never experienced the course before. First few holes remind me of my least favorite course so I started with a bad taste. Greens were fairly slow but rolled true. Course didn't play as long as I thought it would from the orange tees.
The course is fair. Nothing memorable. Nothing worth more than the hot deal we paid to play it. If I were in the area I'd play it again but for me it's not worth the drive from the city.
Challenging course
This is a very tough course with lots of elevation changes and trees. The sand was like hitting off concrete. No beverage cart but they did have ice cold water and vending machines on the course. The greens are tricky. You need to be on the right level or else three putting is inevitable. Most greens are two or three tiered. They changed the ratings from last year and if I would have known I probably would have played from the green tees. I played from the whites and shot the same score I did last year. Will I play here again? Maybe but only if my game improves.
This is a challenge
First time playing the course.
Very challenging for four guys
that don't play a whole let of golf.
The 9th and 18th holes are very long,
but the 18th is a great way to finish.
unfriendly staff
Staff make me wait before check in too much. I waited about 15 min.
Review
Course was a challenge.
Bunkers could be better.
Plays long
Great way to start a day
The course was in incredible shape for the amount of rain we've had, but it did play 90 degree rule. Narrow in spots and wide open in others, the course tests pretty much every shot in the bag. Greens were true & fair.
The crew was out mowing tee boxes, so i had my choice of tees - didn't help much :). The range finders on the carts are a great way to speed up the round. Definitelly will play again.
Beautiful Track
Hadn't played Big Run since the late 80's since we live a fair distance North from the course. Great value at senior rate, course was in great shape and still a challenge. We will definitely be back more often.
Old School Course
We have had a lot of rain so the course was lush. You will like the elevation changes and views off the tee box. Fairways are very fair but on certain holes its helpful to be on the proper side. Bunkers were pretty bad with minimal sand making it difficult to play a normal bunker shot. Greens were pretty slow as the grass was left longer maybe to protect the greens? Minimal ball marks and nice and healthy just difficult to putt on greens that are so slow. If you are playing the white tees double check the yardage as they are longer than most blue tees. We play this course once or twice a year and enjoy the round knowing what the course is.
Played on the 4th of July
The course was not busy on the 4th of July. Course is very long and is tough for beginners with trees everywhere. I played for $35 using golfnow as a single player, a great deal for this upper class course. I was paired up with 2 players but one player was a poor player and should not have been on this long course hitting the ball 75 yards at a time which made the round take forever. The course is always in great condition and the pins were in tough locations. I will play this course any time I can get a good deal.
Big Run - correctly name
Great course, love the layout! More difficult than the rating implies, with the hilly terrain and tree lined fairways you gotta bring your A game. But that's what makes it so much fun - a great challenge! Big Run provides a wide variety of holes, some difficult and some just plain challenging! We'll be back!
Best course I have played....
Awesome round that both myself and my friend enjoyed. Paired up with 2 other folks and we all had a blast. Pace was good and ranger tried to keep it up. Everything else was 5 stars.
Nice course
Nice course , but it took 5 and a half hours to play 18 holes . To long for us 4 hours is more then enough . May time was extremely slow
Course is challenging but so is staff
I was a single matched up with a threesome. The cashier gave me a cart key and sent me on my way. After loading my bag, they announced over the speaker that me and my threesome were on the tee. So I drove to the first tee and stood around for 5-10 minutes. No starter and no threesome showed up and the group ahead was leaving the green. I teed off and figured I would wait for the threesome for a couple minutes before heading out alone. Then a course employee yells to me "What are you doing?!" You are with a threesome and one of them is riding with you! Our tee time had passed by 7 minutes already. I happily picked up my partner and we went off. However, 3 holes later we were no being harassed by a marshal that we were a hole behind! Later we caught the group in front of us and waited on every hole. Lastly, a group of 13 year old boys cut into us on 17 to slow us down even more. After passing them on the 18th tee and explaining we weren't allowing them to continue in front of us we finally finished our 5 1/2 hour round! Ridiculous that we get harassed early because they don't use a starter and then end up dealing with the slow play issues that they didn't resolve in front of us.
1960
Very well kept and challenging course. Club house should have been remodeled 40 years ago. Staff not very friendly.
beautiful course.
excellent staff. my playing partner was late because of a miscommunication and the starter was very understanding. make sure you get a cart, this course is long. beautiful scenic course. great putting green to warm up. newer carts with laser pointer for yardage.
by far my favorite course on the south side.
thanks for a great round. I will be back.

Slow pace
This is a great golf course however the pace of play is rediculois we teed off at 11:00am and it took close to 6 hours to play 18 on a Saturday. If I ever play here again it will be at twilight or first thing in the morning
Big Run, Big Challenge
I have always loved this track. We started playing here back in the early 70's. I thought the playing conditions were the best I've seen in years.
