Old Oak Country Club
About
Old Oak Country Club is situated only 20 minutes from Chicago, but the beautifully wooded terrain shaded by mature oaks and hickory trees, makes it feel as though it's much further away. Originally opened in 1926, the golf course is one of the area's oldest and even one of the oldest in the state. It has undergone many renovations over the years but it still retains its classic character. The layout offers plenty of variety with drivable par 4s and lengthy par 5s. The rolling topography provides many of the golf course's challenges, from the rolling fairways and undulating greens to the elevated tees and blind shots. Mature trees tower over the fairways, adding another tricky element to the golf course. Old Oak Country Club is challenging but fair and still quite playable, which is why it has long been a local favorite.

Making the best of the worst!
I planned an evening of golf with a few friends several days in advance before we knew that the weather was going to be less than satisfactory. However, we decided to play through.
And I am SO GLAD that we did!
Between the cheery and helpful nature of the staff and the quality of the course we had a GREAT time! I would definitely return to Old Oak in the future and would advise anyone who hasn't been out there yet to try it out!
The clubhouse had a great atmosphere! Our food came fast and the owners were talking and laughing with several people at the bar. Overall it felt extremely comfortable and homey even though it was our first time out. I LOVED IT!
Instantly one of my favorites
What beautiful course, can't wait to play it again. Lot's of trees but not too tight. Lot's of sand but not much water and the traps are really nice to play out of. Each hole is unique and there are many opportunities to be aggressive, other places to make a good decision and several risk/reward situations.
Very nice course
Everyone was friendly except for the starter who was exteremly rude. Don't understand how such a nice course can have someone who works there with an attitude like that. Horrible
Fun Course
First time seeing the course, but had a great time. All holes are unique and requires all the shots. Looking forward to going back again.
This course has great greens
The greens have improved alot in the last few years. They now have a really good super!! He's doing a great job. The tres are allways fun and challenging also. Def one of my favorite golf courses.
Golfing with Neighbors
Excellent day. The pin placement was the toughest I have seen. The greens were lighting fast!!!
Tight course
Very tight course with lots of trees. Extremely slow play but to be expected given the price. When ranger was asked about slow play he said well it's an outing in front of you so nothing I can do. I guess outings can do whatever they want????
Hidden Gem
Best course in the area. Great price compared to surrounding courses. Challenging and scenic. Highly recommend.
Always on the play list
Playing in the fall at Old Oak I was expecting a leaf nightmare, but the course was in excellent condition. With the elevation changes the views of the colors were very good. Definitely worth playing especially at fall rates
Fun But Not Easy
You need to hit good shots as there are many trees and some water
Oldoak home Glen
Nice course, the rough it's a little too long for my liking. Rough needs to be cut back slightly otherwise a beautiful golf course.
Nice course, antiquated facilty and infrastructure
Nice course with tons of mature trees. It doesn't look like they've spent more than $5 on the pro shop or bar/ restaurant in the past 40 years. No GPS on the carts either.
Good but Slow Going
Good course, friendly staff, but spent a lot of time waiting on backups of 1 to 2 groups.
Nice alternative to Cog Hill
It's in the same vicinity and a great value. Very nice track with scenic holes in the wooded area. Deer and blue heron are prevalent; especially towards twilight.
Beware of the thick rough around the greens; some of the toughest I've ever seen. I've played here twice and the green speeds is moderate. Although I'm told that they are still recovering from the brutal winter.
My only suggestion to the course is to provide hole maps. There is none on the scorecards, tee box and no yardage books are available. You are kind of on your own until you play a few rounds.
Fun course
Definitely not a boaring course. Great time but be ready for some tight and challenging holes.
Will play this again
Beautiful course
I enjoyed playing this course, the pace of play was great.
Accessible, good value golf course.
Being a retired senior who plays as a single, this course is readily accessible to me on most days and, therefore, I treat it as my 'home' course. The senior (weekday) rate is a good one. Because I am only a one-to-two-day-per-week, average golfer, the course offers me sufficient challenges (long par 3's, long par 5's, well-bunkered, sloped greens, some narrow fairways) to prevent me from tiring of playing the same course repeatedly. When I am paired with others, they seem to concur about the course. It would be hard to find a better-valued course in the southwest Chicago suburbs.
Great course
All around place to play a peaceful round of golf. Always play there
In good shape!
Fairways in great shape. Greens in good shape. They had issues earlier in the year but they are coming back nicely. Good value at $34 on golfnow.
Every hole is different
Great improvements of the course from back when I played their in the 90's. this may be by new local course. Not many people know about it.
