Old Oak Country Club
About
Old Oak Country Club is situated only 20 minutes from Chicago, but the beautifully wooded terrain shaded by mature oaks and hickory trees, makes it feel as though it's much further away. Originally opened in 1926, the golf course is one of the area's oldest and even one of the oldest in the state. It has undergone many renovations over the years but it still retains its classic character. The layout offers plenty of variety with drivable par 4s and lengthy par 5s. The rolling topography provides many of the golf course's challenges, from the rolling fairways and undulating greens to the elevated tees and blind shots. Mature trees tower over the fairways, adding another tricky element to the golf course. Old Oak Country Club is challenging but fair and still quite playable, which is why it has long been a local favorite.

Just nice overall course
Tee's need a bit maintenance but the rest is great.
disorganized
The most disorganized facility I have ever been. I checked in at 320pm my time was supposed to be 330pm. There was an outing on the course and you'd think this golf course never had one. There were zero carts available, even though myself and the two guys I played with paid for them. We had to wait while the starter was letting groups out several holes ahead of number one.We finally teed at 410pm, never will I play here again, its too bad, I live a short distance from this facility.
What Happened?
Having played this course before some years ago, it was time to revisit.
Uggggh. My mates and I will not return based on the greens alone.
Aside from the greens, the course was "sporty" for lack of a better term. Decently conditioned, had a regular beverage cart and OK/funish layout.
But those greens! I've been on many courses this year prior to this round and not one, considering the brutal winter we just endured, had anything remotely this bad. The greens themselves took away from the entire experience. All but a couple were impossible to putt on.
Too bad as it was an OK course otherwise.
What happened to the Greens?
I love to play Old Oaks and looked forward playing Wendesday, but was very disapointed with the condition of the greens. The bare patches made putting quite diffacult to say the least. I want to play there again but won't until repairs a made.
old oak
Staff were unfriendly, no signage for any of the holes either on the scorecard or on tee boxes. The greens were in bad shape - I will never play there again.
Awesome course
First time golfing here and I love it. Greens needed a little work but the course is beautiful. Staff is really good. Drink lady came around at least ten times during the 18 holes! Overall loved this course
Nice Course
Challenging course, especially from the back tees. Lots of tight fairways, carries over water, etc.
Like most Chicago courses after last winter primary issue is the greens are in rough shape. Makes putting pretty difficult.
Overall it was a great value for the money, i enjoyed it more than Cog #3 which is the same price and a mile down the road. Definitely will return later in the year
Beautiful course
Played with a friend who is a 6 handicap and had a great golf experience. The course is revamped from the last time that I played there about 10 years ago. As beautiful of a layout as you would like, however the greens are still suffering from the rough winter. They are a little bumpy and are being seeded in spots. They will be great in a couple of weeks. Well worth playing this course.
May go again. Greens poor. $5 Key deposit?
Really not any effort to satisfy IMO. Dusty pro shop. $5 cash key deposit on pre-paid round. Tacked on another $20 for a 5 yr old to ride with us on a Wednesday. Paid another $11 for a large bucket that had a half dozen balls in it that were 40+ years old and another dozen "rocks". Greens in terrible shape with no mention/warning. Crew actually on and making passes with sanding equipment during our play of around the 15th hole.
Cool enough layout to scalp cheap mid week rounds.
This is a shotmakers course.
The fairways needed to be cut. The greens were quick because they were extremely sparse. The management should have offered a discount to compensate the players for the condition of the greens.
Way over priced!!!!
The course was pretty beat up for being so early in the year. Every green was dead! They were patchy and bumpy. Just in terrible shape. It would have been nice to have been told the condition of the greens when I booked! Nice layout but would not play here again. Especially for $68!
Lost the greens
This is one of my favorite courses. Unfortunately, the long tough winter played havoc with the greens. They were in bad shape. Hard to ask someone to pay top dollar to play under these conditions.
Greens need help
I've been playing here for many years and it's always been a favorite. The harsh winter has apparently taken it's toll on the greens. Putting was brutal won't be going back any time soon.
Great course
Old oak is always a test it's not long but has punishing rough, tree lined fairways and ice like greens with plenty of top to bottom slope. Get above and your dead on half the holes. I would recommend it's a quality course.
Great layout, poor greens
We played with a couple of people who have played there before. They said this is the worst the greens have ever looked. Since it has been a harsh winter, I wasn't expecting much, but besides the 18th green, the greens were all beat up and sandy.
The course layout was excellent. My dad and I both commented on how much we liked the course design. We both also agreed that in a month or so, after the trees bloom and everything greens up, this course will be very nice.
Wouldn't recommend playing this course for another month or so. I will be going back to this course in the future, no doubt.
Meh
Even though I play here in the evenings after work from time to time, it's hard to give this place a good review. The golf course is decent. It's affordable and that's about it. There are only a handful of good holes at best and the rest is a bit boring. They do have a really nice short-game facility which is a plus. I'd rather practice some around the green shots here, than down the road at Cog Hill. That being said, if you're looking for a place to play at a reasonable price, you're probably better off going down the road.
Awesome Course!
The course was setup nicely and all the leaves were blown away. Hats off the ground crew at Old Oak CC.
Excellent conditions for this time of the season
The course provided a level of difficulty that allows for all player levels. Course condition for this time of the season was excellent. The greens provided a challenge on every hole, but were not unfair. Good shots were rewarded as well a bad shots put one into precarious position. Would definitely play this course again.
fun to play
Overall, it is good course to play for the deal.
They ruined 10th hole.
Solid traditional style course
A very nice course. It is very well maintained with groundskeepers out there in November keeping things cut. Beautiful scenery and golf environment. Pace of play was just right. The course was challenging for the short game as it seemed like every pin placement was perilous to get at and required you to putt on some type of break.
