Marengo Ridge Golf & Country Club

About
Marengo Ridge Golf Club opened as a nine-hole course in 1963. Spread across rolling, wooded hills, the course was crafted by re-purposing an old farm. The working cattle barn was even renovated to become the clubhouse. As the golf course garnered a local following, a new nine was added in 1990. The more than 25-year difference between when the two nines were constructed give the course a unique character. The layout seamlessly blends modern techniques and classic design. The distinct topographies of each nine add even more variety. Marengo Ridge Golf Club's original nine holes weave through mature trees while the newer holes are more open and links-style. There are several tricky doglegs throughout but it isn't overly punishing if you're errant. You'll also face several water hazards and strategically placed bunkers.

marengo review
Course was fairly empty so played very quickly. Fairways and greens in great shape. very friendly staff. Will definitely play again.
No one knew the greens were under repair until on the first hole. Staff didn't mention or not shown on line.
Nice greens
Course. Played short due to Illinois experiencing very dry conditions. Made hitting 280 yard drives easier for this 240 yard hitter. Great layout.
1st Time Golf at Marengo Ridge
Great course for all skill levels. Prompt start. Good pace. Challenging course with abundance of bunkers and traps. Well maintained. Gas no-frills carts. Fairly priced for value. Would golf there again.
Back to Mar Ridge
Tees, greens, and fairways were in good shape considering the recent dry weather. Cart paths could be improved. Always a pleasure to deal with Janet at the club house. Great value and experience.
Played in just under 4 hours
A very nice pace on a very early fall day.
Friendly staff as usual, although we're not fans of the cashier doubling as the bartender.
Course could use a little bit more water, love, and attention though. Seems like many of the courses in the area would all benefit from some more water, either rainfall or sprinkling.
Last week we played Oak Grove in Harvard and their tee-boxes were so hard you could barely set tees in them without snapping them.
Great course
Great hidden gem of a course. Prices were excellent. Owner was very friendly.
