Boone Creek Golf Club - Valley Course

Boone Creek was an excellent mid-week value. Not challenging to walk, pace of play was great with not many early morning players. Will definitely return.

The fairways were in great shape except they were too narrow for the average handicap player. If you weren't able to hit it in the narrow fairways, even if you were just off the fairway, you were faced with fairly high grass rough to hit out of. A good drive that just trickles slightly left or right is penalized.

I was in the Woodstock area and happened to drive by this course a few weeks ago. Just driving by it looked like a nice course. Got to play today and what a treat it was. Loved the layout and also how challenging some of the holes were. The rough was extremely challenging so best to hit accurately onto the short grass. Definitely coming back!

The design of this course is nice, much potential. I felt the fairways were nice and open, not too much water in play. The sand bunkers were very hard, not much sand. However the maintenance of this course was NOT good. There were many many massive clumps of grass so big they could hide a ball covering fairways and rough areas. There was some grass on the rough so long I knew exactly where I hit my ball but it was gone I couldn't find it. There was some grass 12 inches long and thick. It ate my balls. Looking for balls this much will slow down play. The staff I saw was very friendly but we had no beverage cart out there, no water coolers and coming in on the turn we were not close enough to the club house to really stop off and get anything. Here was the big problem, pace of play was soo bad. We took 5.5 hours to finish. Part of this was the fools out there and I think they had an outing on the course that day making a mess, but for most of the afternoon we were watching the group in front of the group in front of us tee off, and I think they were waiting on at least a group in front of them, and then we had at least 3 groups behind us waiting on all of this. I just really can't play with balls coming off the tee falling around me while I try to get on the green. And that messes with my shots slowing me down more from my mishits. Some of this is the fault of the players, but we NEEDED a ranger out there to fix this, I saw noone all day after the starter. Maybe they were over whelmed, but I would rather you not take my reservation than have to deal with this. There is much potential here they just need to hire a few more people. Might try it again on a slower day

Course is in nice shape. Played very fast. Only complaint was no cart person on a 80 degree day. Everyone was very friendly.

Played the Tuesday after Labor Day, Prairie corse. I didn’t expect much but wow it was bad. The rough was 8” tall and it had so many grass clippings laying everywhere you couldn’t find your ball. Left me scratching my head, did they just cut it too 8” or did it need to still be cut and then why already the clippings everywhere. So unless you hit the fairway every shot you weren’t gonna have a shot due to the length of grass swallowing the club head. Greens were hard as concrete and insanely fast. Tee boxes looked as if they’ve never been repaired or relocated. They had everybody playing on the same 9 holes and the other two 9 hole courses had nobody. Had to wait more than you played on a Tuesday mid morning. Don’t waist your time play anywhere else I know I will”

Had showers prior to the round, so it was a bit wet, drained well considering. Greens were very true, and in GREAT shape. The fairways were just aerated, and a little thick (longer grass than normal fairways). The rough is very very thick.

Hidden gem - I'll be back for a second opinion!

Lumpy grass in the fairways from lawnmowers and the inserts of the aeration caused unwarranted conditions!!!!

It was kind of far from where I live but the courses were all good. There were 3 x 9 holes (Will combine 2 x 9 holes to play) a 18 holes.

The lady at the check-in desk was super friendly. Since there were no players (?), I had to play all by myself which was great and was able to finish in 3 -1/2 hours.

Will be back to play again soon.
