Open fairways. Challenging greens.
Always a good round at Tam. Open tight fairways up and back. Be prepared for others golfers to be playing their second shots from your fairway, seems to always happen. Green can be challenging with some tough pin placements.
Conditions better than ever...greens rolling great. Were always very soft and slow but they seem better maintained this season. Can never go wrong here to get some work in on the short game. Best 9 hole option around.
Highly Enjoyable Executive
I’ve played at Tam O’Shanter multiple times for the last few years as a very beginner and it’s been fantastic. The course has been perfect in length and difficulty for me. The lines of sight from the tee to the flag are clear, the distances achievable and the hazards at the right level of difficulty for me as I learned and got better. Play is swift, but I’m not running into anyone nor feeling rushed. So far everyone that we’ve played with has been fine with me as a beginner so I don’t feel bad being nowhere near par. Avis the board the staff has been friendly and helpful. Fun course!
Fun course
Well managed course. Great pro shop and starter. Excellent value. Fun course with nicer than average golfers playing there.
Kinda pricey
Had a pre paid foursome. All checked in lady says all set. Starter’s giving us a hard time saying we didn’t all pay. Arguing with us about it not going to let us go etc. show him our receipts. Turns out 2 of us were on 1 receipt. No apologies or anything. Real ahole
Greens need work after winter they were just punched and filled so not so good but rest of course in nice shape.
Rough early season round
Surprised it wasn’t busier the first 70 degree day. I was happy with the pace today since I’ve had some brutal 2.5 hour nones there in the past. Some of the greens are pretty rough with replacement pieces that haven’t grown in yet, so be aware.
Good course overall
I played this course 3 times this year. It was better every time I came back
Staff is always great...accommodating and pleasant. Operation as a whole is far more efficient than the other local options run by the forest preserve. Can't beat the view from the restaurant patio afterwards either!
