Good course, bad staff
This was my third time golfing at Lick Creek. The course has always been in decent-good condition and is exciting to play. The staff (especially the ones behind the counter) have been very unfriendly each time. They seem to have no interest in providing any type of customer service other than collecting your money. I would definitely play this course more often if the staff was better.
good challenge for high handicapper
driving a premium,,otherwise you are pitching sideways big greens with lots of slope three putts not uncommon
Great course
Course is in excellent condition. Challenging holes with woodlands and elevation changes on front 9 and a few holes on the back. Back 9 is more open in places but length on holes and elevated greens makes up for the challenge. Good test for all skill levels. I had a chance to play with the Supt of Golf , Mr Steve Funk. He and his staff there do a great job, friendly, helpful, and welcoming to out of town visitors to the course. Thanks Steve !
Challenging course; harassing staff
This course is great for a challenge and a change of pace. The topography of Lick Creek is different from many of the other courses in the central IL area. Unfortunately, my group was harassed by an overbearing staff member that took it upon himself to follow my foursome around the first 9-holes and criticize our pace of play. We had a group of five women in front of us, and instead of playing like a goon and driving the ball into the women, we decided not to ride them and took our time until they were clear. This will be the last time that I will play this course due to the overbearing staff.
TOUGH COURSE
TOUGH COURSE WHICH IS MADE TOUGHER BY ALL THE WAITING YOU DO.
Grass Roots Golf
Great neighborhood muni. Fairway landing zones were a little beat up... looked like there may have been a big outing here over the weekend. The greens were smooth and deceivingly fast. Membership could do a better job of repairing their ball marks on the green. There were a number of holes were positioning off the tee was very important. If you are in the trees looking for your ball watch out for poison ivy, it was everywhere.
Great course to walk.
Overall it was a great day. When it's 72* in July in this area, you find a course and tee it up.
Lick creek
Extremely busy course with many groups of 4 players. Played by myself and due to being caught behind slower groups in front of me it took 5 hrs to play the course. Otherwise a very nice and challenging course! Bring plenty of golf balls
Challenging tee shots and greens
Overall, a very engaging course in that it makes you think on many holes. Given that on about half a dozen holes, you can't see the green from the tee box, you'll need to play this course several times before you can enjoy what the designer intended. The greens have a great deal of break and pin placement possibilities that keep each visit interesting.
Terrific Value
Course condition was excellent. Greens were quick but fair. Great Golf course
Nice city course, no dress code
Starter very friendly. Pace of play slow due to allowance of a 5 person group. Ranger?, rude and allowed 5 to play. Nice challenging course. Greens fun to putt. No water to drink on course. Course bathrooms haven't been cleaned in 10 year, disgusting. Wear whatever you want. Tank tops allowed, flip flops allowed, T shirts allowed. No dress code based on what we saw golfers wearing.
Good Courss
Played all 18 and the pace was OK but the course in general was in great condition. Golf carts are a little slow but other than that highly recommend!!
Overall great golf course to play.
Greens are pretty tuff to read if your playing this course for the first time. the rough was a little thick and there where a couple holes with tight fairways. Overall this was a great first time experience playing this course will hopefully play again later in the year.
Challenging
Challenging especially for women and seniors. Did not think tees were fair at all to the above. Rough was too high for the first cut off fairway. Very easy to lose balls in rough.
Front nine very challenging
Course was in great shape from tee to green. Front side was very tight and a lot of blind holes. First time playing the course. Back nine was a little more open. #18 was a great hole with 2 fairways and a decision with how you want to play it. Would definitely play again.
toughest layout in the area.
Love this course. You have to use every shot in your bag. Course conditions very good accept the greens. The speed is quick but almost all the greens have ball mark damage from last year. Too many land mines to avoid
Beautiful course
Challenging course, nicely laid out. Greens were fast and you needed to have patience reading them. Enjoyed the round.
Taylormade
Course was great but they let booked a few to many tee times which made for a long round.
The best value in Central Illinois! GolfNow made the value even better!
Not a very long course, but the combination of minor elevation changes and undulations provide several challenging shots along the many tight, tree-lined fairways. If you're a sprayer off the tee, be warned that you are in for a long day of golf. The course was in beautiful condition considering the late summer drought we experienced in Central IL. The greens were in fantastic shape and were relatively quick. The 15-20 MPH wind that was present made them even quicker. Overall, a very fun course at a very reasonable price with beautiful views, scenery, and even wildlife--we saw eight deer on the back nine. This course has quickly become one of my favorites in the Peoria area.
Course was set up nicely
Alot of elevation changes with blind shots on quite a few holes.
Challenging
This is a very challenging course that will test every shot in your bag. There are some tree lined holes that require precision tee shots and the greens are really sloped and there is no gimme putts. Overall a very good course to play and is a good measure as to where your game is compared to a top course.
