University Park Golf Club
About
University Park Golf Club (formerly known as University Golf Club & Conference Center) boasts one of the most popular championship courses in the Chicagoland area. The golf course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1962. The original design by Lawrence Packard received an update in 2004 by Greg Martin, but the classic character of the layout still remains. The course wanders across gentle rolling terrain, providing elevated tees and undulating fairways. Water hazards come into play on half the holes, including on the 17th, University Park Golf Club's signature hole. This intimidating par 3 requires a tough carry over water to an elevated green. Miss it and you'll be faced with the nearly impossible task of getting up and down. The difficulty doesn't let up with the final hole, an uphill dogleg par 4 with a sloped, elevated green and water on the right.

Great Day
Played on a 70 degree day in November. Who can complain? Course was a little slow due to many people having the same thought. Course was very clean considering the number of trees and the amount of leaves down. Greens rolled well. However you might think twice before using a yellow golf ball.
course in good shape this late in the season
Love the course, love the price, staff was friendly and ready to serve-overall. it was a great experience to play there.
So glad to hear it! Thank you for playing at University Golf Club, we are really happy to hear you had an overall great time and enjoyed every moment. We love our fans! Come back and see us soon we can't wait to see you.
Solid Choice
University Park was in decent shape outside of the sand traps, which needed maintenance. Greens were quick, fairways were nice and tee boxes decent. On weekends, this course gets a lot of play. During mid- week is the time to play here.
Great to have your here at University Golf Club! We are happy to hear you enjoyed the course and the greens were up to par. Come back and see us again one weekend soon. We hope to see you again soon!
Course has matured over the years
Last time I played here was probably about 15 years ago when it was still called Urban Hills. What a difference a bunch of years makes! The course has matured quite nicely and many of the holes are barely recognizable compared to what I remember. And this is all for the good! Trees now provide a nice presence on the course. It no longer looks like a track cut out of a cornfield. There is nothing very special or tricky about the course (well, the 600-yard par 5 #16 certainly puts a strain on distance), but there are a few nice doglegs and some water. Sand traps were relatively few and far between - and that's a good thing, because they do need serious attention. Otherwise conditions were nice. Very nice (must be fairly new) clubhouse. Tasty jumbo $3.25 hot dogs. Course is nicely landscaped with built-up landscaping walls around most of the tee boxes.
My only real complaint has to do with tee selection.. The course has 4 tee boxes to choose from - 6724 yards from the Black tips to 5208 yards from the Bronze forward. As seniors, we chose the 6003 yard Silver. The gripe is that on some of the par 4s, the Silver tees were placed way up at the Bronze tee box, effectively making many of these par 4s 80 to 100 yards shorter and well under 300 yards in length. The course should strive to set their tee markers so that the advertised distances are close to what the card shows. Otherwise, tee selection is based on erroneous information and that can affect the player's game.
Otherwise, we had a nice day at the course and we'll return again, especially at the GolfNow rates.
We really appreciate you taking the time to leave your review and for playing at University GC&CC! We will inform our staff to audit the yardages from the tees mentioned and get a more accurate reading. We're so glad you enjoyed the course and the hot dog and found great value in playing here. Happy to hear it was fun and challenging!
Good greens
Overall an average course considering layout and conditions but the greens were surprisingly smooth and fast. Definitely would play again for a hot deal!

Great deal for the price!
The course was in pretty decent shape. The fairways were nice and the rough was pretty recently cut, but the greens were pretty slow. It was a course I would definitely play again. Especially if you go after 2 and get the $20 deal.
Thank you for playing at University GC&CC. We are so happy to hear you found good value in playing here and a great deal in the afternoon. Always book online for the best rates! See you again soon.
Not as good as once was
I have played this course before. What really surprised me was the condition of the greens. Ball marks are not repaired. This takes the scoring and fun out of a round.
Hi ReverettE thank you for leaving your review with us for University GC&CC, we appreciate your feedback. We will have our staff audit the greens and make the reparations needed, we appreciate your attention on the matter. We hope to see you again on your next round!

Nice course for the money
I got a great deal on "golf now". I went out as a single and got paired up with a couple of great guys. The course has a great set up and the greens were good for this time of year. I enjoyed the round, very nice for the fee charged.
Great! So glad to hear you had a good round out at University GC&CC, we hope you return for your next round real soon. We look forward to seeing you!

Play somewhere else
I never wrote a review on GolfNow, but felt I had to after my recent experience. The course's conditions were acceptable. Some areas were blocked off and being repaired. There was a ton of geese on the course and droppings were everywhere. For the value it would have been great, but it was overbooked. No beverage carts and no rangers drive around to enforce pace. I played in a two some. After playing the first hole we waited probably 30-45 minutes before playing the second hole because there was two four somes, a two some and a golf outing all in front of us. We decided to take about a hour break since we didn't want to wait on tee boxes all day. When we finally played hole 2 there was nobody behind us and we didn't see anybody ahead of us. On hole 6 we saw a single waiting to tee off and we waited. After about 10 minutes he put his driver back into his bag and started to head toward the next hole. We teed off and when we did we noticed a 4 some still on the 6th green. It took them about 5-10 minutes to finish up. Me and my buddy hit our next couple of shots and finish up. Next hole is a par 3 and when we get to the tee box the four some is still teeing off. We thought they might let us play through, but they didn't. We waited for them to hit their tee shots and then were going to skip hole 7 and move onto 8, since we didn't want to wait behind them on a par 5. The group ahead of us was extremely rude and kind of ruined the experience for us and gave us a hard time about skipping ahead of them.
We finished up the par 5 and were teeing off and 9 and still noticed that the group we skipped still haven't finished the par 3 we skipped. If the course was open to begin with we probably would have had a better time, but it was definitely overbooked and waiting 20 minutes between holes, because of outings, is pretty unacceptable. They should have allowed more time between tee times, especially when there is an outing ahead of groups. Having a tee time 8 minutes after the last group in an outing will cause a ton of waiting.
I came to play here because it was cheap. I would rather spend a couple of extra dollars and play somewhere else and recommend you do the same.
Hi there, thank you for leaving your review on University GC&CC, your feedback is important to us. We have notified our staff of the situation and do hope you return for another round. Message us directly so we can sort something out for you:

After all the rain, course was in good shape
The staff was very friendly. Food was great. The course itself was in good shape after all the rain. They are making the right changes to the course.
Awesome! Great to hear you saw our improvements at University GC&CC. Thanks so much for playing our course, we look forward to seeing you once the weather dries out a little bit!
Could be better
I like this course, but the ranger just drives around and no monitoring the pace nor hackers who just got a set of clubs and thought they could play golf. Guys are loud on the tee box and have no course etiquette at all. Still cannot believe this place does not have a beverage cart but runs a full restaurant onsite. My biggest complaint regards the so called sand bunkers how about some actual sand? How can I rate my own scoring when I have to hit out of a dirt bunker? I recall years ago when this place had sand bunkers.
Thank you for your review, We are sorry about the bunkers. We have been working hard to get them back in shape with the rain we have been getting. Come back and see us again!
Review
Facility great staff didn't put enough space behind each group and groups played to close together

Nice course. Could use more sand in the bunkers. Has some long holes. Won't lose toom many balls as the rough isn't bad.
Thank you for your review and feedback about the bunkers. We value your concerns and will look into this. Please come back and see us again!
This weather has been awesome! So glad you were able to make it out for your round in November, we appreciate the feedback. We hope to see you again on another warm day out at University Golf Club!
