University Park Golf Club
About
University Park Golf Club (formerly known as University Golf Club & Conference Center) boasts one of the most popular championship courses in the Chicagoland area. The golf course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1962. The original design by Lawrence Packard received an update in 2004 by Greg Martin, but the classic character of the layout still remains. The course wanders across gentle rolling terrain, providing elevated tees and undulating fairways. Water hazards come into play on half the holes, including on the 17th, University Park Golf Club's signature hole. This intimidating par 3 requires a tough carry over water to an elevated green. Miss it and you'll be faced with the nearly impossible task of getting up and down. The difficulty doesn't let up with the final hole, an uphill dogleg par 4 with a sloped, elevated green and water on the right.

worst experience yet
Unfortunately I did not get to play the course because when I arrived for my tee time I was told that they would not be able to get me out for 30 to 40 minutes past my 3:18 tee time. They said the course was totally booked. It was the worst experience i've had with the golfnow system. I drove 40 minutes to get to this course and had to leave frustrated.
wonderful course
Customer service excellent, food and drinks spot on after playing 18 holes
great course for the money
Nice long course, great price we'll maintained. Some of the fairways could be better and the bunker sand is terrible its like concrete
Great Job!
I grew up near this course since I was 16yrs old, I have never seen this facility in better shape from clubhouse to course. Golf and food were both a great experience.
Course was OK, But thats it.
I played here for years back in the 90's and at minimum have played 50 rounds here in my life. I was excited to return as I haven't played a lot of golf in the last 10 years.
For starters they trenched these fake ditch lines in on a few holes and just filled them with 3" rock, it looks unprofessional and I didn't like it. I know why they did it, but to me it just is an eyesore.
The 9th green was unputtable do to some uniform lines gouged into the green about a foot apart across the entire green.
Other then those items I enjoyed the course. The rest of the greens were ok and the fairways nice.
the clubhouse is nice and the pro shop attendant was super friendly. There was no refreshment cart on the course on a sunday afternoon round, not sure why.
We stopped for a beer and a hotdog after 9 and it felt like we were intruding on the bartender. She could have been wayyyyy more friendly and I was anxious to leave. Better service please
For a course that charges more then most other courses in the area the service could have been better. I will not be returning very often.
Course improving
This course was in sad shape years ago. The new management has made vast improvements since they took over. It's in better shape now. Get rid of the geese, and it would be even better.
Great day, great course, great staff
Their staff was so friendly, and the course was a dream, just made for the perfect day of golf
Well worth it.
Course was in very good shape and seems to be well maintained. I stayed out of the bunkers so I can't say what kind of shape they were in. Good mix of holes and lots of doglegs. Not much water and not a hole lot of bunkers so you can score. Greens rolled real well except #9. Worth the golfnow price.
some interesting holes..some weird landscaping though with white rock in play to cut your ball up
Nice course in good shape..great value..friendly staff...bvack nine has a 600yd par five...greens roll nicely
The course is suitable for all levels of experience.
The fairways were in great shape but the greens had many pitch marks due to players not fixing them during the course of play. I did see the rangers out there trying ti fix the marks. I would recommend the course to all players.
Very Nice Course
A buddy and mine decided to sneak in a quick round while visiting The Windy City for the 4th of July. This course was well maintained as well as challenging. The staff (Pro Shop, Starter, and Ranger) were extremely pleasant as well as some of the regular patrons. I will definitely be visiting this course on my next trip to Illinois.
Just an average course.
Nothing outstanding, but an average $25 course, worth playing if nothing else is available.
People need to pick up shoes on green instead of dragging them
Encourage golfers not to drag feet on greens Need to put real sand in bunkers
Several challenging holes. Greens were in great shape!
Played on a Saturday morning. Finished our round in 4 hours. Really enjoyed the course. They have added several trouble spots to holes that were not there two years ago when we played there. My foursome really had a great time out there. Only problem we had was that a ranger pulled up to us on the back nine and 'joined' our group for 3 holes! He told us that a 3-some was wanting to go through us but they were 3 shots behind us! They did skip a hole to pass us which was ok but the ranger stayed with us for 2 more holes. Almost like we were on the clock. We finished in 4 hours so we were not slow, but he was a distraction for us.
The course has great features.
The greens were very nice. I enjoyed the length of the course. There was enough water to provide a challenge.
Good value for the money.
Played early on a busy Sunday for $39.00 through GolfNow. The course was generally in very good shape, with the exception of the 9th green, which was terribly scarred for some reason, making putts pretty much impossible. One other issue was the pro shop did not open until 6 am, despite the fact staff was present and there were 6:02 am tee times - thus everyone got off a little late and in a scramble. But other than those issues, generally a good experience and a very good value for the money. Would very much recommend to the average golfer - short course, but challenging enough, and at a low price. Some fun, high risk / high reward holes.
This course is "female friendly".
I will continue to use the services of Golfnow, and recommend it to others.
Good course for average golfer.
Significant management improvements this year. There is now a starter all day, and rangers out and about.
Poor value, poor experience. Book your round elsewhere.
This past Saturday, I met a buddy here for a round of golf. Seeming that I live in Chicago Suburbs and he lives in the Champaign area, it seemed like a decent value and reasonable place to meet and play.
We made it through 6 holes in 2hrs and 20 mins before pulling the ripcord and walking off this course. Given nearly every group on the course seemed to be a foursome, we played up rather quickly. Both of us keep an average pace of play. By the second tee box, there were 2 groups ahead of us waiting to tee off...unacceptable. Each hole had a 15-20 minute wait to tee off. The starter sent us out 10 minutes later than our designated tee time and I didn't see a ranger on the course at all. When dropping the cart at the clubhouse, the starter said "I told you so" referring to the pace of play. His comment rubbed us the wrong way, as he's employed to get the groups underway on time.
The course is by no means a five star golf course. It needs a lot of work on the greens. The course is very flat, offering little/no elevated holes/tee boxes. There isn't much landscaping on the course, which leaves much to be desired. The "ponds" and "creeks" are more appropriately recognized as retention pond run-offs. There's not much nature appeal.
If given the opportunity to golf here, I recommend taking a pass. There are much better clubs in a 10 mile radius that offer more value.
Well groomed course, can't beat the price
Friendly staff, well cared for course, nice price.Rough on the long side because of all the rains.
