Don't Miss This Gem in Lake County
It was a perfect day. High blue sky and no wind.
Course was in immaculate shape.
A couple of tee boxes were a tad worn.
Bunkers were semi-firm.
Greens were running.
An old style parkland course.
Not much elevation.
You could tell the staff liked being there.
Friendly as heck.
Staff liked to talk golf.
Tee Time start time regimented.
The Book was full.
Pacing was great.
We plan on playing there again.
"Somewhat challenging" is a rating misnomer.
Plenty challenging for the tee boxes we played.
Will do it again.
Thank You to all the staff at Deerfield.
Fun course, great value
Deerfield has a good practice area and is kept in great condition. It plays fair, with a combination of wide and tight landing spaces.
We played the day after 3.5" of rain and the course was in great shape other than the bunkers; Cart path only, but it was not swampy other than a few limited areas.
Watch out on 10 for balls flying in from the range if you are on the left side.
NO PROB
GOOD SHAPE. GREENS ROLLED GREAT. IF YOU ARE PLAYING BLUE TEES SOME HOLES LIKE PAR 5 ARE VERY SHORT
Staff revamp
Course plays good, pace was good, we were patient with the 4some ahead of us( beginners) and they left after 9 holes. The back 9, however, the ranger cone came at us loudly and demanding we pick up the pace. Never listening to us explain we waited for the 4some in front of us and now he’s blaming us for the back up. Try being out more before blaming slow play. Once we hit the 11th hole, no one was behind us for almost 2 holes. The starter was rude and just felt he didn’t want to be there. Golf is fun and competitive, let’s keep it that’s way, no need to bring your agitation to the course or your PAYING consumers.
Very nice park district course
I have played here many times. The course is not very hard. It was very well taken care of for a park district/community course. I thought the value of the course was good.
Very slow play
Rangers need to do a better job moving the slow groups up.
Best public course?
As good as a public course gets in Chicago. Challenging. Excellent condition. Nice bar and bartender. Greens are about 80%. The rest of the course is 100%. Excellent GPS on carts. Popular but not crowded. The feel of a country club.
