not quite spring time Photo submitted by snareg on 03/09/2015
3 in the rain
The course was fine except for some grab grass on a few greens.
Good outing.
Due to the heat and humidity, two of the greens were in bad shape. The rest of the course was in very good condition. This is not just a flat links course. It has some great dog legs, blind shots, elevation changes and well placed bunkers to challenge every level of golfer. We enjoyed playing this course and will go back again.
Staff and grounds crew were friendly and courteous.
friends need a cc
my buddies said it was in pretty good shape although some greens had bare spots which is typical this time of year. #15 had a new cart path which was disruptive but necessary. always hot and humid in august. wish i could have been there.
Probably the Best Fairways Around
Acorns has a great, interesting layout. Especially the 18th hole which involes a decision of risk/reward from the tee box to try and drive 275 yards over a lake to get to to the green or taking a longer route to the hole going around the lake.
As far as conditions, the fairways are probably the best in the St. Louis area. Teeboxes were also great. Only thing that needed some work is the greens on some holes. Mostly holes on the front nine. The greens had a few weeds growing on them and a large amount of unfixed ball marks.
Other than that, this is probably my favorite course in the area because of the layout and pace of play.
Great little course
Pretty fun little track here, if not a little straight forward
This course in great shape
Fairways and greens are in real good shape. People that work there are very helpful. nice course.
Acorn
This is not a difficult course but still very fun.
Worth the money.
Keep the ball in play, and you will sorce well.
Nice Layout
Pace of play was good. Not pushed.
Best value in the area.
Acorns is always the best value in the area. It's wide open and in good shape every time I am there. It is my favorite course in the area minus annbriar.
Nice course for the money
Always enjoyed playing at Acorns. The fairways and greens were in good condition. Seemed like the greens were a little faster than the last time I played here, but that was fine with me. The rough was also taller than the last time I played which made it a little more challenging. The pace of play was good and didn't have to wait for anyone to tee off except the first hole. The course is relatively flat except a few holes. My favorite hole would probably be # 6. It is a par 3 that is downhill and over a small little pond. The clubhouse has more of a "bar" feeling to it which I really like. Seems like they have good daily specials throughout the week. Overall I think this course has good value for the money and will play here again.
Well kept
Nice course only thing I didn't like is they don't have yardage stakes and some holes the cart paths aren't marked either
Good value
Hot deal on golf now is only 15 bucks
Decent but horrible start time
Had a tee time for 12:36, it was so backed up on the first tee. There was two juniors and their grandma in front of us. I was playing with just my brother. A dad and son came up and decided they would just play with us. My brother and I play so fast though that we knew it would slow our round down. First of all I don't mind playing with other peopl, but the guy just assumed we'd play together because he had the other two tee times at 12:36. That kind of ruined my brother's entire round because his pace of play was slowed down so much. Overall good course , extremely friendly staff, but the old guys who play there think they own the place. Will be back again just hope I don't have to play with strangers.
Looked great for this time of year
The course was in great condition for it being early in the year. Not excessively hard but it is easy for you to get your self in trouble. I would recommend for all levels of skill.
Acorns Golf Links (2016-03-05)
Dan Ritter, Brian Carr, Steve Amsden, and I ventured down just south of Waterloo, Illinois to play The Acorns Golf Links on Saturday (03-05-2016).
What a nice course, and an incredible value at $26 for 18 holes. With the wind blowing at 30+mph it made the course ridiculously challenging, and I lost more balls today to the drink than I have in my last 5 rounds. For being early spring, the course was in great shape. The fairways were nice, and the greens looked to be well taken care of (but man do they have some tilt to them). Plenty of water hazards on some holes, but all in all an exceptional value in Illinois.
It was a great time, with good friends. We will definitely be back to check out this course in the future.
Great course
Acorns in Waterloo is a very nice course to play. Fairways and greens in great shape. People are always very friendly. Really like playing there.
Good
Played on a cold Saturday so it was nice and open. Course was in really good shape. Could use more signage/maps here or there, though I liked the yardage markers on the cart paths. Pretty easy drive from St. Louis ~40 min. $30 felt fair
Fun links course
In excellent shape and very fun to play.
One can see why it's popular.
Good pace of play and very friendly staff
There ARE yardage markers on every hole. Stripe on cart path...and colored bird houses in rough...Red, White, Blue, Gold...100 /150 / 200 / 250 yards.
