not quite spring time Photo submitted by snareg on 03/09/2015
Well kept
Nice course only thing I didn't like is they don't have yardage stakes and some holes the cart paths aren't marked either
Good value
Hot deal on golf now is only 15 bucks
Decent but horrible start time
Had a tee time for 12:36, it was so backed up on the first tee. There was two juniors and their grandma in front of us. I was playing with just my brother. A dad and son came up and decided they would just play with us. My brother and I play so fast though that we knew it would slow our round down. First of all I don't mind playing with other peopl, but the guy just assumed we'd play together because he had the other two tee times at 12:36. That kind of ruined my brother's entire round because his pace of play was slowed down so much. Overall good course , extremely friendly staff, but the old guys who play there think they own the place. Will be back again just hope I don't have to play with strangers.
Looked great for this time of year
The course was in great condition for it being early in the year. Not excessively hard but it is easy for you to get your self in trouble. I would recommend for all levels of skill.
Acorns Golf Links (2016-03-05)
Dan Ritter, Brian Carr, Steve Amsden, and I ventured down just south of Waterloo, Illinois to play The Acorns Golf Links on Saturday (03-05-2016).
What a nice course, and an incredible value at $26 for 18 holes. With the wind blowing at 30+mph it made the course ridiculously challenging, and I lost more balls today to the drink than I have in my last 5 rounds. For being early spring, the course was in great shape. The fairways were nice, and the greens looked to be well taken care of (but man do they have some tilt to them). Plenty of water hazards on some holes, but all in all an exceptional value in Illinois.
It was a great time, with good friends. We will definitely be back to check out this course in the future.
Great course
Acorns in Waterloo is a very nice course to play. Fairways and greens in great shape. People are always very friendly. Really like playing there.
Good
Played on a cold Saturday so it was nice and open. Course was in really good shape. Could use more signage/maps here or there, though I liked the yardage markers on the cart paths. Pretty easy drive from St. Louis ~40 min. $30 felt fair
Fun links course
In excellent shape and very fun to play.
One can see why it's popular.
Good pace of play and very friendly staff
Highly recommend
For the price this one is was well worth the drive. The back tees provided a tough challenge (6700 yards) however it was very fair. The zoysia fairways were beautiful, greens ran smooth. Pace of play was good, played 18 holes on a holiday morning in 3.5 hours. If you are looking for a well manicured course that provides a decent challenge at a lower price point I would highly recommend.
Great value
Great value. Course is in good shape and the layout is fun and challenging.
Easy, yet challenging.
It is a fun course. Greens are nice, fairways have good turf.
A good Value
Course is not long. For better players it actually takes the driver out of play on several holes. The front nine is all about tee ball placement not length. The back nine is longer and opens up a bit. Course was in decent shape although I prefer faster greens. This course is a decent layout. The pace of play was great on the front nine but slowed to a crawl on the back nine. Whoever designed the course likes forced carries over water. Two of the par 5's make one lay back off the tee, which I dislike. Many holes make one play target golf. However, in general this course is a good value.
Great buy for the money
Between the friendly staff, the course layout and the conditions of the course, I found The Acorns golf course to be an excellent buy.
What a great course!!!
Kind of stumbled onto this one when looking in the area. Pleasantly surprised to find a course this well maintained in such avrural setting. Nice clubhouse and the course was in great shape. They really maintain it well. The electric carts were in great shape too. Its so quiet out here you could hear the grass growing! We will play here again soon!
Acorns
We played during a scattered thundershowers and the course was in great condition even with all the rain. Its always in good shape.
Old Trees and Large Greens
Enjoyed our play - had expected rain but turned out to have a warm dry day! Holes were challenging and fairways in great shape. Putting was good most of the time. Would consider playing this course again.
Excellent Course
The course is in great condition and is both challenging and relaxing. I only wish the holes were marked better.
great track
Here is a nice little course that is out in the farmlands of Ill. It has all the challenges you could want but somehow makes for a relaxing round of golf. Great design, good topography, and excellent greens. This is one of the most enjoyable courses in the area. A hidden gem.
Great value
Great staff, fun layout, and the fastest greens I've ever seen on a public course. Overall a great course
There ARE yardage markers on every hole. Stripe on cart path...and colored bird houses in rough...Red, White, Blue, Gold...100 /150 / 200 / 250 yards.
