St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Joe Jemsek Course
About
There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

Unforgiving Refund Policy
Played here before and it was satisfactory. This time around the pro shop mentioned they are going to give me a refund as I was unable to make my tee time. This was a lie as they did not provide me a refund, I was charged $106 for a round I never played. Unforgiving and greedy.
Looong Round
To start, we teed off 30 minutes late. 2 groups ahead of us hadn't even teed off when it was our tee time. For some reason the starter had groups waiting until the group got to the green (par 4, 294 yards from the reds to 362 from the tips) to tee off even though they were very behind schedule. I was hitting an iron and was told to wait when they were 300 yards out. It was a 5 hour 10 ish minute pace (not including the 30 minute delay). $90 for an afternoon tee time and that experience is not something I would recommend to anyone.
Solid
Solid course, well maintained, fair price, slope and rating is pretty accurate. It’s obviously not $100 plus course. Definitely well above average for the price point.
Played Course #2 at St. Andrews
The course was in great shape given the recent weather. I have played this course numerous times and was pleasantly surprised that they added GPS to the carts. You can’t beat it for value. Also very much enjoyed the bar after the round and the Cubano sandwich was very tasty. Will definitely play there again soon.
Always like these courses
Played course number 2 today with a good friend from out of town and though it was very hot, we both enjoyed it. Given the heat over the last several weeks, the course is in very good shape. Everyone at the course was very helpful and we really enjoyed a couple beers and a great sandwich in the bar after the round. These courses are a great value for the money.
Like Joe
Like the course and layout…. My beef is with the golfers…. Tire of divots with no replacement or seed…. I consistently fix a half dozen ball marks on greens and even though the sand traps have rakes, doesn’t seem like the golfers know how to use them. No respect for the nice facilities you have
Easy fix
Two rangers “chatting” by the 1/2 way house. An hour later passing the same spot they were 2 still yapping … Hadn’t moved an inch ! The guys in front of us a twosome were 3 holes behind and in no hurry to go anywhere.
Please St. Andrews - Pace of Play ! Slow play kills the enjoyment…
Nice track
Like the course and layout, play always slow… and golfers don’t care for the course, most divots are not being replaced or filled with sand…. I fixed at least half dozen ball marks on every green…. And the traps are a disaster, not raked regularly by course or golfers. Any shot in the sand needed to be raked before hitting. Wish the golfers care as much about the course as does St Andrews!
Golf 60
I would say thank you to the golf course staff to make my day special on the golf course. We have two of foursome and we want to play on the same course. They help us .The course was at good condition and the peace of play less than 4 hours. We had a great time.
Nice course
Course layout is nice with a couple of challenging holes where laying up may be required if tee shot not solid.
