St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Joe Jemsek Course

About
There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

Where My 2nd Shot Landed Photo submitted by DavePipitone on 07/25/2017
great local course
played both courses. Fun course to hit after work and has an excellent practice area. Staff is inconsistently great, some really care to help and others are just there to get paid which is fine. Lessons are good
Wish they had a couple of shorter par 3s. The few I remember were very difficult for me, I’m also not very good so it could just be a skill issue
Jemsek Course is steady
The conditions on the Jemsek are always solid. Not spectacular, but solid. Pace of play early in the morning is excellent.
Great venue
Saint Andrews golf club is a great facility with 36 holes and a driving range they are customer friendly and I highly recommend this course
Fun round on a brutally windy day
Got a cheap Hot Deal which doesn't include a cart, so we walked and pulled our clubs. St Andrews - Joe Jemsek course is an old style layout with tree lined fairways, decent rough, and some water hazards, especially on the last 2 holes which are extremely challenging. It's been a dry winter and some of the tee boxes were hard and bare, but overall the course and greens were in good shape. It was a nice sunny day, but the winds were howling at 40 mph which made for some interesting shots. We played a two against two betting game and it came down to the last shot on the 18th hole, so it was a fun day even with the wind.
In nice shape coming out of winter
St. Andrews is still a little pricey for a mid-day weekday
Played the Jemsek course from the whites.
Wind gusts up 30+mph kept people off the course so pace of play was however fast\slow we played.
Some motor carts had full cart covers which was great because the wind would have taken the life out of us.
New GPS is a nice touch.
New asphalt cart paths are great.
Greens and fairways were still semi-dormant\thin - expected.
Bunkers were decent.
Course water fountains not yet active.
Ball washers were full but no towels were present.
All in all...thumbs up !
Local Muni Gem
Love this local gem. It has a great selection of 36 holes and a phenomenal practice center.
