St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Joe Jemsek Course
About
There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

Golfer Reviews
Disapointed
Thought I had a good deal but, ended up having to pay for the full cart even though it was just me. An extra $20 when the round was only $27. The range was closed when I arrived at 8 am. I wont go back as a single due to their cart costs.
Fun course
Good layout for the Jemsek course. Your staff were fantastic. Our first time here, not sure where to go or what to do. Every single employee was helpful and bar staff were awesome after the round.
Goose Droppings
Our group always enjoys playing St Andrews except for two items: Prepaying except for cart if riding and lately too many goose droppings on several holes. .Otherwise the course is usually in good shape.

Not Ready for Handicapped Players
Locking off the parking lot so that Handicapped players can't access their cars with the Golf Cart is the dumbest idea yet. Telling people it's because of insurance is a joke. I've played their for over 50 years and this is the first time they wouldn't let carts out. Covid isn't going to get you at your car. Not letting a permanently Handicapped person access their car because carrying a golf bag is too much for their back and legs shows the Jemsek family doesn't care about the Handicapped or Disabled.. Never seen anything like it. Time for the ADA to step in and right the ship. I can still shoot and 80-86 with my brace on but I can't carry my bag from the parking lot to the cart or anywhere near the cart. They take the attitude that club makers took back in the fifties and sixties that left handed players shouldn't play golf. It's not right.
Great Experience
We played St. Andrews #2 this morning as a twosome riding. It was a fantastic day - 75 degrees in August. I was really impressed with the course. The tees were just OK. The fairways were great, the greens were great and pretty quick. All of the traps were raked and the sand was nice. Ball washers were in place (some courses still don't have them back). We had a few courteous groups allow us to play through. We played 18 in 2 hours and 15 minutes - a dream round. Completely enjoyed St. Andrews!

Nice course with obnoxious staff
Overall this was a nice course that was fairly well maintained. We were enjoying our day until the rangers started barking about needing to pick up our pace. We were on a 4 hour pace, which in my experience is pretty good pace. I didn’t appreciate the attitude of the ranger. And they wonder why golf is a dying sport.
