St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Joe Jemsek Course
About
There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

Where My 2nd Shot Landed Photo submitted by DavePipitone on 07/25/2017
Nice Track
It was a beautiful day out and the place was packed. We ended up waiting on just about every hole. To be expected for a Saturday, but ended up being a 5 hour round. Rangers were all very social and shared some tips on the layout.
No mention about the greens being recently punched at time of booking, but overall course in good condition. I’m used to rates dropping a little around the time fall greens maintenance starts up.
Either way would definitely play here again. Solid course for decent rate.
Staff was very helpful in getting a single through the course at a great pace.
Cart charge is too much $17
They aerated the course in the AM so that is why only average rating today. I played a few weeks back and it was in great shape!
Nice course
A nice course that plays fair. Course is generally in good condition. Nice greens and fairways.
Straight shooters rewarded
Picturesque conditions and excellent groundskeeping coupled with pleasant weather made for an enjoyable round. Not many doglegs so it rewards a player's accuray not length. Not a lot of water in play but fairway sand and guarded greens challenge your club selection. Excellent practice facility and friendly staff. I highly recommend
Too pricey
Played the Joe Jemsek course (Lakewood). Saturday noon tee time and paid $76 all in on golf now. Far too pricey compared to many other local options including prairie landing, Bolingbrook, and maple meadows. Course is made up of very similar holes over and over again.
Blah
This course was Avg at best but the staff was horrendous. Very rude. Not helpful. The course itself was adequately kept, but not as good for the price. It is fairly monotonous and not very memorable. The practice area is nice but again the staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. I saw the pro-shop guy get into with a customer for no reason.
Would not play here again and you shouldn't either.

The course was outstanding
Great place to play a couple of rounds of golf. The course is in tremendous shape. Will definitely play St Andrew again!!
Considering the
Covid 19 circumstances the overall amenities were more than adequate
