St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Joe Jemsek Course

There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

Nice Course
I've played this course a few times. The only thing to be aware of is the conditions of the greens. If it rains the night before, don't be surprised if you end up with an embedded ball on the green. Other than that, a great course!
Slowish play, good course conditions.
Greens and tee boxes in good shape, nice fairways and low-cut rough. Easy peasy.
Golfing with my Son!
It was a great day to spend time with my Son at St. Andrews. It was a beautiful day, course was in great shape and we hit the ball pretty well.
I’m glad that we were able to play the Course, which we had heard good things about from other golfers. I would love to play the Course again in the near future!
Once a week
We have been playing the back course all season! Hitting from the black except gold on the Par 3's!
ST Andrews Review
The course is forgiving for non straight shots. The sand traps sand are OK. The greens are on the slow side. The par 3s are mainly 180 yards plus. The course we played ends with 2 par 5s and the last two protect the greens with ponds that cross the fairway.
It's been a while since i played this course usually play the St Andrews course. It was a bit more challenging. You have to try to keep it straight there are trees on both sides of most holes but you do have some leeway. Had my best round in a while so maybe a bit biased ! LOL
I would definitely play again.
Excellent Shots Feel Good at this Course
I've played the Joe Jemsek course a number of times at the St. Andrew's Golf Club in West Chicago.
Like the starter today said, "This is the more difficult of the two courses here."
I had the option of playing the St. Andrew's course, but opted for this one.
The Jemsek course has longer and more challenging par threes; the greens on the par fives are rolling and sloped.
On number 8, a long par four, I hit a hybrid to within two feet for my first birdie on that hole.
I'd play this course again.
