St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Joe Jemsek Course
About
There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

Where My 2nd Shot Landed Photo submitted by DavePipitone on 07/25/2017
Good course
Fun course . Mostly straight holes q. You can find trouble with a bad swing. Definitely play this again. Thanks
Jemsek course
Course was in excellent condition. Arrived a little early but was able to get out with little delay. Staff was very friendly and let me tee off as they had an open time. This is one of the best courses to play in Illinois. The holes are fair but can be demanding. If you hit your tee shot well, you will shoot a good score. I was fortunate to score under par so it was a good day for me,
great staff ---makes you feel at home
We enjoy playing both courses at St. Andrews. A special shoutout to Carol who assisted with our T times---Thakns Carol. All the staff make you feel as if its your home course. Always friendly and helpful. See you next week
Nice course but slow.
Pretty much what I said in the title. Nice course but slow... Rough was a bit heavy which made it almost impossible to find your ball even a few feet in. That said, nice course .
Reliable
St Andrews is always a viable option when looking to play in the western burbs. Course is well taken of and the price is right. My only gripe was that the greens were super slow. I get it though as it’s been fairly dry here the past few weeks. Overall a great time
Greens are FAST and very well kept. Great course overall. Staff I had contact with was friendly and cared you were there. I will be going back for sure.
Good place to play
Course was in good condition. With all the rain we have had if the ball isnt in the fiarway you need gps to locate in the rough.
Well Maintained Course
Played 18 holes and was surprised how good the condition the course was in, given the rainy Spring.. Great value, friendly staff, good greens and well presented. Looking forward to coming back
Got rained out
Course was in good shape when we started considering how much rain we have had this year. Greens and tees were in very good shape considering. Pace of play was a little slow but mostly due to high rough where you could not find a ball that left the fairway.
Only got in 9 of the 18 due to rain and thunderstorms. Didn't close the course but rain was bad and temp dropped and ranger said cart [path only for the rest of the day, It was pretty unpleasant so we quit, but didn't get a rain check.
Like this course works well for mu skill level.
Excellent course, excellent price. Played in 3 hours...couldn't have been better considering the rain we've had.
Hello, Craig. Thank you for taking the time to review St. Andrews Golf & Country Club. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
