Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

Must try at least once
Bent grass fairways. Nice Layout. Plenty of trees. Some water but not enough to scare you. I am old and injured so I didn't like to walk up a hill to all reds tee box.
Actual sand in traps
Course is well maintained and staff friendly, every time.

Enjoyed the course. paired up with single and father/son combo. Moved through course quickly and little wait times. Fun round. Greens were quick but played true.

$21 is too much for carts
Both St. Andrews courses are very nice and in good condition.
My complaint is that they charge too much for carts. $21 for one person to rent a cart. Most courses charge $10 or $15 for a cart.

Consistent conditions
Course is well maintained and staff friendly. Pace of play for a foursome @ midday was 4:30 - not bad at all.

Great course and even better hot dogs!!
St. Andrew’s is one of the best public courses around, with a few challenging holes yet fair, it offers a fun time with friends with all the beer and hot dogs you need!

Great course for the money.
I played a fair bit on this course lately. Overall, I am very satisfied with this course, especially considering its very reasonable price ($24/$29 for early morning tee times during the weekdays).
The course conditions have improved since I last played six years ago. Fairways and greens are clean and well mowed. They could not be as good as the more expensive courses such as Cantigny, Prairie Landings, and Arrowhead, but comparing to the course of this price range, I would say the course conditions are exceptional.
Course layout is good but a little much to the straight side. #4, #5, and #18s are a bit challenging. Other holes are more or less straight.
Overall, it is a fun course to play, and great value for the money.

I haven’t played here for three years, it was a welcome return. It’s certainly a longer course from the white tee box compared to others.
