Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

Get holiday weekend but let’s try and move along
3 hours back 9 was brutal No ranger in site Maybe got to their bbq on time but we didn’t
Over-priced for Moderate Course
Even with most courses taking advantage of the Covid situation by price gauging, this course takes it too far. $39 to walk or $57 to ride at this average course is excessive. I won't play here again until they bring prices back in line.

The Saint
Bunkers and fairways in great condition. Too hot to walk on Friday, cart price of $15 per person, added to the Hot deal. No other issues.

Same course, different value
Used to play St Andrew's a lot. It's a great course for the mid-to-high handicapper. Unfortunately, the days of Joe Jemsek (good golf at a fair price) are long gone. Took my daughter, who is just learning how to play the game, for 9 holes - at a cost of close to $80. That's a fair price for 18 holes. Just obscene for 9.

True to it's roots
Course has maintained its playing standards. Fun. Only complaint, is it is time to allow carts in the parking lot. Without freedom with the carts, course is losing money from using the driving range before playing. Inconvenient.
Thank you for your comments. Our latest insurance audit resulted in some changes in our policy. Riding carts will not be permitted in the parking lot or at the Practice Center. Some customers simply park at the Practice Center first & then move their car closer to the course entrance when they are ready to play.

Was an enjoyable time
First time playing the course and I overall enjoyed the course. Greens in good condition, though a lot of divots not tended to. Majority of sand traps looked quite good, though some were under maintenance. Pace of play was 5 hours at an 8:40 tee time on a Sunday, which is a bit slower than I would have thought.
The only really bothersome part for me was a cart lady drove past us twice on the front nine. The first time not even paying attention to us after stopping at the group in front of us. The second time we had to flag her down, because she was on her phone and not paying attention. When we did get her to stop, she was more concerned with her phone, and we ended up just letting her leave because we were almost to the halfway house. Thankfully the second 9 there was a second cart-lady who was incredibly quick and attentive. (I know this doesn’t have much to do about golf, but it was one of those customer service things that really bothered me).
Check in staff
Check in staff was not friendly and not welcome guests with teeoff.com booking.
