St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - St. Andrews Course
About
Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

This course was in great shape
We played in the morning and it seemed not very busy, since we did not have to rush. No one was behind us, pushing to move faster.
Nice course, not too much sand and water
Nice challenging course, well maintained. Good amount of trees, not too much sand or water. Very nice to play.

$19 sounds like a great deal...until you arrive and pay $20 more for a cart. Probably should have paid better attention when booking. Still a great deal though for a nice course and will play again!

Tournament Brought Pace of Play way down
Played 5/8/2021 and there was a Hurricane junior golf tournament. I think it is great to promote junior golf. My issue was with the kids and parents watching who were moving at a snails pace. This caused delays in the round and a log jam.
Thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve. Thank you for playing and we hope to see you again soon.
