St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - St. Andrews Course
About
Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

St. Andrews Mid October
First time at St Andrew’s. Course was in great shape for all the play it has been getting.
Very fun coarse that can be enjoyed by high handicapper (me) as well as lower handicappers as well.
Course Great
St Andrews has 2 courses and the Jemsek course is better vs St Andrews Course. That being said, both are enjoyable and a great value. You do need to be on high alert for errant shots. Course Marshalls are helpful to keep a good pace of play.
Old world golf setup
Nice setup with a challenging shots on most holes
Will definitely return
St Andrews
The course was in excellent shape. The greens were aerated and a little bit quick but it was a really fun and challenging course. I expect aeration at this time of year so it was no problem. People were very friendly and there was really no wait hole to hole. The pacing was incredible for how busy it was.
was not happy this time around
My 2nd time our at St Andrews this season. Was paired up with slow play players which happens. The ranger was not the brightest ranger I’ve seen. Kept coming around to speed us up when nobody was really behind us. He was obsessed that the foursome in front of us gained a hole on us. So he flat out rushed our play. The 2 slow players thought by going ahead they would save time. They were slow so that made no sense. Ranger came around and questioned them moving ahead. We said talk to them. Never felt so harassed when in general the course by our standards was not busy. So my Dad asked if we want to stop after the 9th for a beer and brat can you push the foursome behind us ahead. He said stay behind the foursome in front of you. My Dad said so you mean don’t spend money on your food or beer. This ranger was bad. We stopped for a brat and still caught up. The ranger said pick up your balls. We didn’t. Because we did nothing wrong. I feel the course is a nice course but rum poorly. My father will not go back. It is unfortunate. We are average golfers make some good and some bad shots. But you have the ranger lurking. We have been out a dozen times this season and never dealt with this treatment. Thumbs down on the ranger micro management. It accomplished nothing but to scare us off from playing there again. And we were not the Slow Play problem!
Had a decent time except...
Course #2 is in good shape even with aerated greens. Staff was friendly and accommodating at check-in. I had an 11:10 tee time and was paired with a club employee playing on their day off, who couldn't have been nicer. We both rode in separate carts, and teed off behind 2 kids walking. Both kids were playing and walking slow throughout the round. Despite this my partner and I waited patiently on every shot. Common sense says to let the faster group behind you play ahead, but we stayed patient regardless. On hole 16 we were on the fairway, one of the kids hits an iron shot from the 16th green back towards us on the fairway and yells fore. (ball landed maybe 10 or so yards in front of us).I don't get rattled by golf balls landing close by, but just the malicious act itself was ridiculous. I drove up to the tee box and tossed them back their ball and when my playing partner (who's a St. A's employee) confronted them (basically asking them why did you that, you know you don't do stuff like that on a golf course), they started trash talking and cursing him out. They said we hit our drives on 16 into them. We never hit into them, not even once. We went out of our way to avoid hitting into them. I complained to the pro shop after, and kudos to the manager for at least taking note of it. When I asked the starter who the people were, they couldn't even identify the two people on the tee sheet. They had a threesome with carts recorded at the 11:00am tee time. This leads me to believe the two kids in front of us were either employees playing for free, or they snuck out btw the 11:00 and 11:10 starting time. Definitely wish the club would govern pace and starting times better. Probably won't come back. Staff and course were good, just wish they'd tighten up the pace and spacing btw groups a little better (maybe send a ranger or two out on each 9..just saying).
Hello, thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. Please know that this is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With an uncharacteristically full day, we work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and allow our guest the chance to complete their rounds. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve. Thank you for playing St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Saint Andrews Course. We hope to see you again soon.
Beer police
Course was good. Layout was good.. we were not allowed to bring coolers onto our carts. People would drive around and report if people were taking beers out of their bags. So if you go with beers watch out for the beer police.

Great course, great people, great pace (walked it in 3:45 min) on a Saturday morning.
